Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones have many great songs that include the harmonica. Too many to list.

It may not be Stevie's most "gorgeous" harp work, but "I Feel For You" has some nice harp on it. Ditto "Brand New Day," where, IMHO, Stevie makes the song go.

"Fingertips" is also a memorable one.

Miles

Miles' Fact of the Day -

On several tracks of the Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' album, Brian Wilson used the bass harmonica, as part of his 'tone pallette'. cool

Aside from the occasional Wilson imitator, I've never heard any other artist use this eccentric, unique-sounding instrument. smile

Dave Matthews Band's "What Would You Say?" builds to a pretty exciting harmonica solo.

The Blues Travelers have also featured some pretty good work. I really like the end solo on their "But Anyway." It somehow always puts me in the same spirit as the Hendrix guitar solo at the end of "She's So Fine."

There is also the track, "Velas", on Quincy's "The Dude" CD. This was also played by Toots.

I have one more that is unknown. I have an album by a guy named Ralph MacDonald, he is a famous percussionist, and song writer. Anyhow, he has an album called, "The Path", on this cd there is a song called, "Smoke Rings and Wine". It is an instrumental with Toots playing the harmonica. The album is a great cd with a great set group of musicians on it. It came out about 25 years ago and it is on import now. Everybody and their mother is on it, from Bob James to Miles.

Great CD.

Stevie also played harmonica on Mr. Policeman by Rick James. Thats a good one as well. And the dude from Blues Traveler plays a good harmonica also.

When I saw the title, first artist that came to mind was Stevie Wonder. Period.

Let me join the praise for Stevie with, "That's What Friends Are For" with Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight and, of course, Stevie Wonder sharing vocals and adding beautiful harmonica throughout the song!
