What does the org say about Jamiroquai? I only have one of his albums, 'A Funk Odyssey' and its cool, what do you guys think, and what other albums are a must have by him? Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

His first album is great. After Zender left the band, it got a bit TOO disco for me.

The first 3 albums ("Emergency On Planet Earth"-"Return of the Space Cowboy"-"Travelling Without Moving") are by far their best albums. Their fourth album ("Synkronized")is pretty good too. Once you listen to the first 3 albums, you will see that Funk Oddysey and Dynamite are not very good.....

Hence, after Zender left, Jamiroquai became fodder, basically. Zender now plays with Mark Ronson. Who rocks, btw. Zender's got a good sense of music.

Stuart zender (bass) and Toby smith (keys) were ESSENTIAL to the Jamiroquai sound...they made 3 classic albums then zender left...smith left after him and its been Poppy, Discofied, fast food, Crap ever since..
get the 1st 3 (return of the space cowboy is in my top 10 list of all time favorites) The classic line up 1994

I'll agree with his statement about the band and its music. The first 3 were definitely the funkiest. I mean, they really had that acid-Funk sound down to a science. But then Jay decided to move to Disco. I once said here in the music forum that Jamiroquai was one of the last great funk bands. I did upset quite a few people with that. One of my favorite Jamiroquai songs is "Spend The Night Together" That song is FUNKY!! Whoever played bass on it did an excellent job! . I also like the song that Napoleon Dynamite danced to in the movie. (I can't remember the name of it). If this were the 1970's, This band would be at the top of the charts

The song you call "Spend The Night Together" is actually titled "Alright",from the 'Traveling Without Moving' album. The song from the film 'Napoleon Dynamite' is titled "Canned Heat" and it originally appeared on Jamiroquai's 1999 album 'Synchronized'. I agree with your last sentence...if this were the 70s,Jamiroquai would be all over the charts. Many of their recent songs ("Little L","Love Foolosophy","Electric Mistress",etc) would have been HUGE in the disco era.

It's certainly funkier and more danceable than most of the shit hop crap that dominates the charts these days.

Prince and Jamiroquai are the only ones...and I do mean ONLY ones that know how to throwdown these days. Everyone else for the last 15 years has sucked big time. Andy is a four letter word.
