Here's a melody of the songs he's worked on.

I felt so sorry for this thread so i will comment...

john legend is EXTREMELY boring.. even more boring then Celine Dion and Alicia Keys... that is why no one responded to this thread...

his music stinks.. and his voice is nothing spectuacular.. nothing that i can't find in church... i can find 10 guys off the street who can sing and has more personality then him.. and who is more interesting them...

I generally like John Legend because most of the time he does his own compositions completely- and this video was great, nice energy. His first album carried a lot of that energy, but the second one was very slow in that regard, hopefully his next set will be a lot more energetic.

You all don't seem to like anybody!

I do think his albums are boring, but this clip really highlighted his talent and diversity on the keys.

That's very true and I think has a lot to do with how large and diverse this place has really gotten over the years.

All things can now be properly hated.

Which is why some have taken to mentioning more and more obscure artists and old and dead artists to keep their threads from turning into the opposite of what they had intended. wink

When I first heard that song,I thought "this is decent....a nice, melodic groove".Later,I found out that the music is based on a sample of an old 60s song called "Stormy" confused

That's how it is with much of todays' music. If it sounds good,it's probably a sample or a remake lol

I agree with the consensus here- John Legend is cringe-worthy.

That's crazy how you have to find out music is sampled. They don't list it, you have to turn on the radio or hear a CD to hear that your favorite song is a sample. I liked Save Room.

I dont own any of his albums either. I just ran across this video and I loved his work and his contributions to other artists songs. I really like piano players and their different playing styles. He has a unique and signature playing style.

People on this board REALLY dislike him & I can't figure out why confused

I dig him - he's great live & I like that raspy quality in his voice. I do like the first album better than the second (Used To Love You & So High are my SHITS!!) but there's some good stuff on the second too (Slow Dance stays on repeat for HOURS). I'll continue to support him cool
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I dig John Stephans alot but his latest cd is shit. His 1st cd, when he was still using his real name is my favorite of his releases. Live the man is pretty good as well.

I really like "Live It Up" and a few others of his. He's a good songwriter but he's Mr. Ballad and that makes me snooze on him a little bit. He's like Brian McKnight - even his fast songs sound like slow songs sped up. I didn't know he did that Dialated Peoples joint, though. After hearing him do it, it does sound like his work. Despite that, I still think he's a lounge act waiting to happen.

When he chose Legend as a last name his ego clearly got the best of him.

I should explain myself, lest I make even less sense than normal.

There's just nothing fake about what you've posted and it all of sudden struck me as being very funny.

Some people will tell you exactly what they're thinking with absolutely no censorship. And that is a great trait to possess.

Agreed, even his more boring material shines when played live. Where can I get his very first cd?

Good question. I"m not sure if it was "officially" released.
