From that point, the let down begins for me. The Sloganeer, the song that Kicked my ass on the Live from Zurich boot, has been slowed down, watered down, and has about half the energy of the live version.

I think the problem with this song is NdegeOcello's vocals. While the instrumentation is spirited and energetic, she seems to channel Sade with her singing. Nothing wrong with Sade but this is just not that type of song.

Itunes has both A Differnt Girl(EveryNight) and Soul SpaceShip

Both are excellent editions to the album.
I love the album ending with A Differnt Girl (Everynight). The songs about 70% instrumental. It has very little lyrics and ends the album on a nice vibe.

Know what Graycap23?, once I let go of my idea of what these songs should sound like, and listened to the for what they actually are, I enjoyed it so much more. I'm feeling:

I do play the live stuff more, but I threw the 'official' version on while I was studying, and beauty of the songs kinda jumped out at me. But, speaking from the other side of my neck, sometimes less is more. wink

I'd say if you haven't listened since Peace, you may want to backtrack a bit before trying TWHMMTMOMD. I would suggest Comfort Woman. It will set you up for the new one, sort of. Although most agree, Bitter is a better album, Comfort is more atune to where she's at now, sort of. She kinda threw everything into the mix on the new one which makes it more interesting but also more difficult for some to get into. I, for one. love it and I'm floored everytime I listen to it.

I wonder what language that opening chant is? I don't know what she's saying, but she sounds like she means it.

Agreed. When it comes to music, its best at times to take it back to the rare essence/basics.

She's defently anti Bush. And her religious views are more Nation of Islam than Muslim.

I'm starting to think that she's starting to transtion gender.

I get the feeling that she's saying been 'gay' is not wrong or evil on the individual (or their soul), but a sign of some prophecy which is quite deep and could be misconstrued ..I dont know if I agree or disagree, but shes someone I will always listen to what they have to say, and when I get over disecting her msg, It will great music just to listen to, the music is beautiful by the way, so far my favourite since Comfort Woman

Absolutely love it, and that was somewhat unexpected. It does jump around a lot and takes marked detours even within songs. Have to just listen to it, not try to sing along like a pop song. That said, I understand why some people won't feel this, but for me it's been an unbelievable experience.

I've slept on Me'Shell since Plantation Lullabies and Peace Beyond Passion. Listening to this really makes me want to go digest Comfort Woman, Cookie, and Naked.

Oh my god, this is brilliant. Easily her best since Bitter. She kind of lost me with Cookie, Comfort Woman and Dance of the Infidel -- the latter two having more to with me not being interested in listening than their quality.

But wow. She's got me back with this one. Incredible. I love every minute of it. Wonderful album. Glad to have you back Me'shell.

PS: we're thinking of going to see her in Detroit. has she straightened her (live) act out since her tour began? or is it still a catastrophe every night?
