Blaqk Audio- Cex Cells AFI's Davey Havok and Dave Puget have taken a quick break from their day jobs as members of the sucessful goth-punk band to experiment with a new sound.
On their debut album as Blaqk Audio , they embrace a much more electronica/dance/synthy sound. In all, it is like one big tribute to Depeche Mode, from the cold but bouncy beats to Davey's noticibly deeper tone of voice and the absence of his signature screams. I haven't heard the complete album yet, but AFI is one of me favorite bands and I do like electronica, so I will probably pick Cex Cells up tomorrow Even though Blender Magazine reveiwers gave it a whopping 1/5 stars stating "...but the overall effect is chillingly inept, concrete proof of the yawning divide between fandom and inspiration. Inspiration this sincere is anything but flattering" ...but fug them I'm pumped anyhow! Check out a couple tracks on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/blaqkaudio If you will, so will I | |
