I wanna talk about Alicia's piano skills and NOT her singing

The reason why I posted this is becoz I'm a Jazz pianist myself who work 4 some Joint in Harlem. Anyway, what do you guys think of her Piano playing???

Personaly I like it but I wanna hear more piano stuff, her 1st LP didn't have that serious paino drops ya know?? I haven't head ONE Paino solo by her from that LP. Hopefuly, her next effort.

But ya know what?? LOL It bugs me like crazy when ppl say she's the next Roberta Flack excuse me??? Did that came from the crtitcs or from the hype machine(AKA Mr.Clive)?? I mean c'mon now, you have to be DEF if you can't tell the difference between Roberta and Alicia. Roberta Flack was a self-taught paino player while Miss Keys was 4ced by her mom to keep on with them paino class. I don't have problem with paino classes but the sista WAS FORCED(The opposite of wanted??). Roberta on the other hand was another NINA SIMONE, they taught themselvs how to play paino and it was based from their pain and rejection.

Man, Roberta is a layer of class. Her paino playing make me SPEECHLESS, she can tell a long story by hitting her fingaz on them keys without saying a 'word'. Mellow, classy, soulful and in just one word Amazing.

Alicia's playing ain't bad tho but they should STOP comparing her to Roberta, thats not fair 4 both of 'em.

I also hear a lot of ppl say they used 2 like her now they're sick of her and sh!t, well I can't blame her 4 that if she ain't hyping herself besides we need more ppl like her and India. These ladies are gonna be the next big thangs(AKA the next 10 yrs Mariah & Whitney)

Anyway, your thoughts

roberta flack??? not even close...

"Listen to me play I'm a musician", as I'm not pianist I can't really judge , the most boring and pompous imo is Vanessa Carlton , amongst the newcomer I prefer Norah Jones.

all the Neo-Female Soul Singing Female Artists are Clonned on Roberta Flack IMHO.anyway Alicia Keys is like the Kid in the Neighborhood that takes lessons&plays all the Standard songs in a Piano Book&Plays for the Neighborhood&knows a couple other songs.but the Problem is that Alicia has No Soul whatsoever in Her Playing to Me.you can find 99 thousand other Females that can do the same exact thing.but they don't have Braids&Clive Davis flipping the Bill for them.She is a Low-Budget Bobby Short IMHO.without a Spin Doctor She would have been stuck at a Local Holiday Inn or still Hustling a Demo.She is AIGHT.you will only get Her in Droves nothing all the way because She isn't gonna go the full distance at challenging Her Playing IMHO.

But oh what a persona, what a beauty she came up in some Harlem's Joint(2 blocks away from my place) and the woman was just ahh AMAZINNG.

Hell, Dansa can play piano better than Alicia Skeez--jeez.

thank you so Much Harlepolis I dig your Style alot.I think with Her Winning 99 Grammys off of one Song&getting all this Acclaim can make you look at Her Funny because back in the day the type of Success She had usually took 5 Years&Albums to get.it seems like so much so soon.also the Clive Davis Factor shakes things up.I don't like First Albums that are Great because usually it's the Musical Kiss of Notes&a Artist can never fully recover.but so much is being made over Her with so little being put out I think.time will tell but something about this doesn't seem like all Words&Music to me?
