One of the funniest/disgusting things that he talks about is his little poodle that would climb into bed with him and help him "pleasure" the girls if you know what I mean....."After the girls realized what was happening, they loved it because the dog was the best at giving head." I was like WTF????? Rick was a true Superfreak. lol

I didn't know this:

a candidate for city council in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, also named Rick James but unrelated to the singer, had many of his Vote Rick James campaign signs defaced or stolen by fans of the sketch.

He's Rick James smile

The aspiring politician's "Vote Rick James" signs have become wall decoration for local college dorm rooms and cause for complaints by locals who have the signs in their yards with the B-word scribbled across it.
_____

"Every time a 'Rick James' piece runs on your show, we stand to lose dozens of signs overnight, which end up decorating people's front yards and dorm rooms," Diane James added, not specifying whether the relocated placards remained in the relevant electoral district.
_____
Not only are the signs costing a bundle, says Mrs. Rick James, but there's a degree of public humiliation involved.

"Young children on bikes scream, 'I'm Rick James, b*tch!' as we drive by in our car with our 'Rick James' car signs," she states. "People even drive by our home and scream, 'Super Freak.'"
lol

Yeah,he and Michael were friends.Rick also defended Mike during his molestation trial, pointing out that his own kids spent time with Michael.

Yeah I knew they were friends, and Rick was very vocal about defending Mike during his legal woes. But this raises another point, Michael was another who borrowed alot from Rick (if you don't believe me, listen to 'Come Into My Life' & 'Give It To Me Baby'; then listen to 'Thriller') and they remained friends. So I don't think Rick hated Prince solely because he borrowed from his style. I think there was just a lot of ego mixed up in there, and the Vanity thing didn't exactly help matters any.

he does dog Prince in the book though..

it was HILARIOUS..

Rick said that Prince was scared of him and would literally run the other way if Rick was around. He even told once(when Prince was rick's opening act) they were in the dressing room and Prince and his group was being uptight(while Rick and his band was getting drunk and high) and he grabbed the back of Prince's head and shoved vodka down his throat.... mad mad he said Prince spit it out and ran out of the room...LOL!

Its kinda sad that Prince never ONCE mentioned Rick James' name in an interview and treated him with an aloofness though, while Slick Rick couldn't go throw a SINGLE interview without Prince's name lol

After reading this book,I have to wonder...will they turn it into a movie?? It could be one of the most explosive biopics EVER! lol Hell,it could be a 3-hour movie...there are so many twists and turns in this book!

Who should play Rick?

He had me crackin up. "Christopher Reeve snorted up all my cocaine...that motherfucker really was into that Superman shit." Oh no...the man of steel was doing coke. lol Rick is a fool. I've never read a book as quickly as I read that one.

After reading the book, what's amazing to me is, after all the shit that he did, he lived to be in his 50's. I would have thought he would have died sooner.

What's amazing to me is,how much Rick actually remembered lol Let's face it,he was pretty much high all the time and yet,he seems to remember so much....so many names and faces and all the details.

I like the fact that he named names. He didn't hold anything back. It's probably a good thing that this book was released after he died.If he were alive right now, some of these people would be suing him for slander, lol.

I finished this book in a few days. It's a great book. His story is interesting to read about his "transformation" from James Johnson to Ricky Matthews to Rick James. Didn't know he was briefly a pimp and a drug dealer (one his clients was George Clinton). Rick knew EVERYONE.

The stories about Prince are funny. I won't kill it for anyone, but the story Rick tells about Eddie talking with Prince about making a LP is kind of eyebrow raising (but still funny).

If they make this movie they really need to get a unknown to play him. Supposedly the movie rights have been sold and it should hit the screen in 2008.

There's also a finished Rick docu that has interviews with his bandmates, friends, and family (including his children). I think that will be out in 2008 also.

I wonder if Eddie Murphy really said those things about Prince? hmmm As I recall,in the 80s,Eddie was quite fond of Prince.

I was also intrigued/surpised by Rick's thoughts about the Mary Jane Girls. He refers to JoJo as "the ugly ducking"! Apparently, they really hurt his feelings and didn't seem to appreciate all the hard work he did for them.

Clive Davis couldn't control Phyllis esp with the material she always chose for herself(thank god, right?) so when he couldn't dominate her, he shifted his attention to Angela and billed her against Phyllis(in terms of music, live shows and even image - if you can notice the similarities between the 2 ladies).

Anyway, Phyllis NEVER 4gave them for that and held on to that grudge till the day she died, sadly.

There was some gig she did in the late 80's and heard from one of the audience that Angela was having some "weight problems", she cracked a loud laugh and said "Let the bitch eat till she suffocates" lol

Phyill was tough, boy! Abdul you really REALLY needs to pick up her book, its a great following to Slick Rick's bio nod

Yeah, they thought that Prince's band had that 'stankier-than-thou' attitude becoz they didn't come to their parties.

I personally think that Rick & Prince did it between the sheets at some point before they got ugly,,,,it looks like a queen grudge to me nod I firmly believe that those had it going on in that tour, don't ask me why.

hmmm Interesting. Aside from the tid bits Harle dropped, its probable that they've mingled in the same circles being that they were both Jazz artists. However, Phyllis had more critical acclaim with her style and being a Tony Winner.

In his 'Anthology' liner notes, he said that gave Quincy Jones the premission to used the bass-line for 'Thriller'(which is actualy from 'Give It To Me Baby').

I think Louis Jordan played the bass for 'Thriller'.

Except that it's not the same bass line...it's similar rhythmically.

In those days,Prince had a MAJOR attitude problem. He walked around like a prima donna, thinking he was God's gift to the world.I remember in 1981,he was introduced to Stephanie Mills (who was a big fan),she complimented him on his music and he didn't say a single word.I've heard similar stories concerning other celebrities he met.Of course, many of his own proteges had problems with him,as well.So I'm not gonna be so quick to dismiss Rick's comments. We all know that Prince isn't always the nicest person to be around.
