how about being yourself?? Why is everyone from the current generation trying to be the new this or that, how about being a leader. Also the keyword that Kanye said, "when i was on tour WITH Bono" so who was really packing those stadiums?? And also when has a stadium tour become the HOLY GRAIL all of a sudden, i find Stadium tours to be the worst possible thing, u cant see shit, most of the time the sound is shit, and really they seem to be vanishing, with the exception of reunion tours and the Stones. So his statement is typical for him, but for someone that is so FULL of himself, he never shows me anything original he keeps pointing to others past accomplishments and comparing himself to it, doesnt work. There is only ONE Michael Jackson,Prince,Madonna etc.. so everyone get off your tired asses and make your own legacy.

I don't even get that, why anybody would wanna be the next so-and-so? It's like individuality and originality is "unhip" when being clones of legendary acts are one of the reasons the music industry is ailing. It's like basketball and boxing, everybody wants to be like Michael Jordan or Mike Tyson and in music, it's Michael Jackson. My advice: don't be like Mike, be yourself, then holla back!

lol, OKAY

if you need your rapper to be doing the running man, while another guy "crabs" across the stage, and 6 dancers do the tootsie roll in spandex, then ... rolleyes

hmm on the other hand, that WOULD be more suiting to a stadium.

Thing is, if they were smart, they'd realize that individuality is REALLY the key for longevity and history making.

But see its easier that way on the record labels, its a guaranteed income,,,whereas a "new thing" ain't really a sure thing. Its a gamble to them, and the ones who REALLY take the fall are those dumb ass so-called 'artists'.

Yep... and the sad thing is when they start getting buzz, they don't get it until their star starts falling down. It's always the "next" so-and-so, that becomes the next "has-been".

okay. like.
kanye west would seriously have to be the most overrated musician of the 00's.
he takes existing samples, makes them about 10% faster
and performs mediocre/average raps over them in a standard black guy voice.
where is the genius in this? he's a total hack.

Sure.

Diddy is the new Frank Sinatra.
Akon is the new George Michael.
Justin is the new Prince.
Kelly Clarkson is the new Pat Benatar.
T-Pain is the new Stevie Wonder.
Al Sharpton is the new Dr. King.

In a parallel universe fuel by crack and hyperbole.

Unplug the samples and sing Kanye. What was that line about "tone deaf" from "Dead On It"?

Michael is the ONLY one to do stadium tours here in America. The others have all done ARENA tours (including Beyonce). Stadium tours have 60, 70 thousand seating capacity. Arenas are like 15,000. Correct me if I'm wrong but Tina's stadium tours were in Europe I think.
I prefer arena to stadium shows because you can see the performer better.
Since I really like Kanye and I know we can't always believe what is written, I choose to believe he did not make those ridiculous statements.

I was going to say something a little similar but you said everything that was needed to be said. Kayne is a mess. I'm just waiting for the day when he makes an entire album that he doesn't use a sample or turn a sample into an Alvin and the Chipmunks song to make his own. I'm not holding my breath.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

MJ is really the ONLY one in America and worldwide. So Bono with his 'your community' comment - He himself cannot sell in some of the remote countries like MJ. I still like Bono though and this may not even be true.

THANK YOU. Kanye is touring with Bono like he's a guest performer or opening act. Until he can do THIS alone:

He needs to shut the fuck up

What kills me is that the rappers have the nerve to talk about MC Hammer. MC Hammer could throwdown and he could throwdown hard! Their asses can't do anything past a damn opera tempo and then got the nerve to talk about somebody that can actually throw down. What is is, is jealousy because they ain't got the talent to rap fast. They would get all tongue twisted. That's why they have to keep the tempo so slow. lol

As a long-time hip-hop fan, and yes, a person who's bought both of 'Ye's albums, I find it unfathomable that people would pay 70 bucks to see him strut around stage rapping. I wouldn't do that for 99% of rappers. At the end of the day, hip-hop is rhyming over beats. Why would I pay stadium money for a show I could see around the way for free?

Yeah I find that rather strange myself and that is enough to inflate his already gigantic ego. However a lot of hiphop artists have their own bands and actually use live instruments on a lot of tracks e.g Kanaan, K-Os, Common, Nas, Zion I, Pharoache Monch, Lyrics Born etc which gives their shows and albums a great feel.
Kanye only uses samples and try to hide it with a few programmed drums beats

I almost strangled someone when he said how great Kanye was for that song which he sampled Curtis Mayfield's move on up. mad
