I'm a closet Britney Spears fan. It's mostly because of her choreography and performances.

I think she might be able to sing better with more practice AND with less affectation in her voice. Girl, just sing. She may have a pretty voice if she stops trying to get all raspy and funky. Even a breathy type voice might suit her.

First thought is that it's not yet finished. But perhaps they decided to keep it raw and in your face...warts and all...like her life, these days. That kind of makes it nice. Too much polish and it might not have rung true.

I like it alright. I like her voice. Not the off parts, but they're so off that you have to wonder if they intentionally left those there.

The jewelry box thing is a bit annoying, though.

Sweetie, this is clearly a first take demo cool

You can't squeeze water out of a rock! If the child couldn't sing when she first started out, you shouldn't expect her to sound any better now. Some people here responded with comments like "Well, she doesn't sound THAT bad"!! And some of you here will probably run out and buy this poor excuse for music when it's released! The music industry will continue to be in the dumps as long as people like Britney and others are heavily promoted. And I don't even care if I get blasted for saying this. hrmph disbelief

I agree that she can't sing.

This stuff has been going on for YEARS. Before a Britney Spears, there was Fabian, who couldn't sing a lick but had a look that appealed to the teenyboppers. There will always be a Britney Spears, in some way, shape or form. That's just a fact of life.

This is a perfect time to recommend "The Idolmaker", a great movie on the whole teen idol phenomenon. The late, great Ray Sharkey kicks ass as the title character. It's based on Fabian, Bobby Rydell and the like of that era.

Yeah, You are absoutely right!!! This HAS been going on for years! Sometimes it's just as simple as having the right LOOK and the record companies and producers will do the rest! My teen dream idols growing up were the Jackson 5! You know, when Michael Jackson was still black? ( lol No she didn't say that)At least these guys had SOME form of talent back then.

I don't know why this Britney Spears chick bugs me so much. Perhaps it's because her record company has gotten over by exploiting the hell out of her! And now she is not doing anything constructive and is acting all skanky in public and the media is eating it up...I just don't get it!

There are a lot of true musical undiscovered artists out there. If they stood naked in Times Square, NY with fire blowing out of their asses playing their music, they still wouldn't get anywhere near the attention Britney gets! mad

Thanks for the clip by the way! biggrin

Funny how people bitched about her success when she was on top, saying how "untalented" she is. Yet now that she's in the dumps, everyone seems to want her to make a comeback. Interesting. I never thought of her to be very talented as a singer, yet I've always thought she was a good dancer and had a good ear for producers, which is why alot of her singles have become memorable while other more talented artists in her genre make not so memorable songs

Anyway, I heard a bit of the song. Not great, but not bad either. I like how it's kinda raw. As for her singing, well..it's Britney. What can you say? I'll give her credit though..she does convey some great emotion in it.

It would be a nice album track if polished up, but as a single..don't think it would work.

But, that's just the way some people are! Fickle! Fickle! Fickle!
