It's good, you should see if you can find it. The late Billy Preston helped them out alot on this self produced LP. It's very different from their ealier material with Curtis Mayfield.

Just listen too this LP and it will tell you who was a major influence on the
up and coming and soon to be funk stars like th Gap and Bar-Kays etc..etc.

This lp and the Bar-Kays '73 & '74 lp's are (imo) influenced by Slick & The Family Brick.

You Can Always Count On Me and Magicians Holiday - the title cut are the songs that would come to be the blueprint for other Gap Band Slow songs.
Loving You Is Everything - has a nice sound with an acoustic guitar

And as i think about it the Commodores '75 lp has a song or two with a Sly fill to them.

I'm not sure if i have The Great White Cane.

Some more rare Funk...

Keyboardist Edwin Birdsong has got that flair for loose, raw and off-the-wall Funk that you hear with kats like Junie Morrison, Bilal, Sly Stone, and Funkadelic... yet, like Shuggie Otis until a few years ago, he remains a virtual unknown. His first couple of albums ( What It Is (71) and Supernatural ('73) are a serious mix of Guitar and Bass-fueled Rock/Funk/Soul(I wonder if Lenny Kravitz has these albums at home?)... Supernatural in particlar is a great find, particularly for fans of the above artists!!







Birdsong had more commercial success when he teamed up with Roy Ayers in the late 70's and early 80's, co-writing and producing tracks like Roy's hit "Running Away"...

His last solo album, 1981's "Funtaztik" brought the 12" electro-Funk hit, "Rappa Dappa Snappa"...the album also contained serious raw Funk Jams like "Two Faced Lover"...

His song "Cola Bottle Baby" was sampled by Daft Punk for their "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" track (which Kanye turned around and sampled).....
