Who knows what Mary was referring to and its a little lame if Mary was throwing a litle salt in Aaliyah's memory. At the point of her death, no one knew of any negativity going on so why bring it up now.

Maybe its the fact she was engaged to Damon Dash.....or something shrug

Who knows....

I remember that episode (you know I watch me some Oprah lol ) & Mary & Aaliyah were friends it seemed. Mary was commenting on her life being out of control & Aaliyah's death as wakeup calls for her - nothing about the direction of Aaliyah's life, just that an artist & friend had died too soon & it really fucked Mary up...

That's how I remember it as well.

I still can't believe she's dead sad . She had such a promising career ahead of her. Such a shame. Only positive thing in this situation is that Aaliyah did leave behind some great music though. Her album "Aaliyah" was one of the best albums I bought that year. "I Care 4 U" was especially good, such a haunting song and different from anything she had done before. RIP
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

RIP

my youngest daughter is just getting into Aaliyah. She surprised me because she was so little when she died.

I was sad when she died, I remember seeing it on the ticker on Vh1 and I woke up my oldest and told her. I was in shock even though I wasn't a big fan, I was so sad to hear of her passing at such a young age and in such a horrible manner.

I liked her a lot too, I was just looking at the video " rock the boat" over the weekend for the heck of it and it is hard to look at it. but something sure corrolates to her time of passing in that video after the finished product was put out. I dont think I would have felt it in any other video that was to be put out in place of rock the boat.just remembering how they had to piece the video together because that was around the time she died, so to make a complete video they had to put together what was done with her and what wasn't. and she has on white and the lighting was it like she was in heaven. only thing I wished she could have done was hit some strong vocals at times. she was a bit on the softer side.

They had wrapped the video early... The filming was already completed, because she wasn't scheduled to leave the Island until the next day. so they hastily hired a pilot to fly them to Florida and the rest is history but they didn't have to piece together that video

ohhh okay, I thought I heard that at the time about the video not being finished because she had passed before finishing so they had to ad lib the rest of the four minuts or so to get a complete vid. well, thanks for the info and I guess I can see this vid a little bit better and happier now.

I've always loved her. Her first album with pedo was only okay, but for me her music really took off once she hooked up with Timbaland. Great stuff. It's been said before, but she was a good entertainer who never realized her full potential.

Does anyone remember when Mary J. was on Oprah last year or the year before promoting Breakthrough? She talked more about addiction and taking control of her life and - I'm paraphrasing - she said something about not wanting to see her life go the direction Aaliyah's took and that she was associating herself with the wrong people. What was she referring to?

fuck Mary J..all her preaching about God...she still looks like a crack whore..and she is WAY OVERrated
