Is Earth Song the best MJ song ever It just might be. Next level.

It's one of those magical songs...and MJ wrote and produced it all by himself. It takes a certain level of genius to do a timeless tune like that.

Only MJ has the temerity and ego to craft something like Earth Song and be totally sincere about it, which is why it is genius. These saccharine opuses that MJ creates are truly unique, no other has ever made such music. Earth Song is powerful though

It was written and composed by Michael Jackson himself; but it was produced along with David Foster. Bill Bottrell also receives co-producing credit. I do think it is one of those magical songs. In fact, it is one of his best. It needs more than one listen to realize how brilliant the song is. The music video is beautiful as well.

Damn... I remember I was in elementary school, 4th grade when that song came out... all the kids were crazy about it.
U know, I had one of those friendship-albums which U give to people to write something in it... my album had questionaries in it and one question was 'favorite song'. Every single person in that album listed the Earth Song... but the cool thing is how these German fourth-graders spelt it - Örs Song I'm never gonna get over that 1 "Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies -
tongue-tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, I"

one of my favs on HIStory, i remember when i first got it i was blown away by it.
however Get On The Floor i think is his best. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

YES i love that song.. and when i saw the video it made me cry.. watching that stupid man chop off a baby seals head.. and seeing those elephants...
and michael took some things from the bible... like how all the people dropped down on one knee... expect for the bible says Every knee shall bow and every tongue must confess that Jesus christ is lord... and how that man came back to life... in the bible it says that after jesus comes back and removes all the christians from the earth.... there are going to be very few people who will accept jesus.. and those people will live in fear.. because they haven't accepting the mark of the beast 666... and they can't buy or sell anything... so anyways there are going to be a few christian men who will be killed and left bleeding the streets and after three days they will rise back to life.... also michael used footage of old burnt down and ruined churchs.. and after the rapture.... people will destroy all bibles and even churchs... so that whole video just reminds me of the book of revelations.... lololol I also like the song.. Keep the faith.. and Man in the mirror.. MJ always has some great inspirational songs

No, "Human Nature" is. | |

I forgot to add that I think "I Can't Help It" is his best song. This was his minor foray into jazz-like compositions. If he had've kept going, I think he would've blown us all away.
"Human Nature" is a very close second. [Edited 8/28/07 16:45pm]

While I agree that "Human Nature" is fantastic, I ONLY like, not love, "I Can't Help It." The ad-lib at the end irritates me.
On the other hand, "Earth Song" is brilliant. I also agree with ehuffnsd that "Get On The Floor" is one of his best songs. The rap, build up, and his laugh -- one of the best moments on "Off The Wall."

You can take a number like That's What You Get For Being Polite which is the flip side of Megalomania, Insecurity and you will still have a great MJ song--and let's be honest, MJ's early Motown records are filled with sap.

And yeah "Get on the Floor" is boss, I love the chant leading up to the end of the song:
"Get up, won't you gon' get down Shake yo body, won't you gon' get down..." And how his voice rises and rises while chanting... I love it!

To be honest, and this is just being honest, I rather hear Michael ache about "ain't no sunshine when she's gone" than "what about the trees?" LOL He had soul on "Earth Song" but I wished it was more "what about the war? Can't we stop it now!?" LOL Now that would've been fantastic... I liked the original title of that song better too: "What About It?" It's good but not the best, least IMHO.

ehuffnsd said: i wanna scream there is an h at the beginning of the word!!! The Jacksons aren't exactly wordsmiths. They all have the same speech patterns, inflections, and they some imes use the wrong tense. Interesting accent nonetheless, Henry Higgins would have a blast with them, anyway, Get on the Floor is probably a better song. I'm just throwing out a conversation point.

The song is called "We've Had Enough." I believe it was recorded in either 2003 or 2004; I cannot remember which. It is one of his most powerful songs. Impressive considering that his personal life was in shatters at the time of its recording. Perhaps that helped.
