TRON

I'll second this list for the most part.

Especially the Prince, Pixies, Smiths, Stone Roses and Madonna.

I'd like to hear crisp, fresh versions of old New Order and Cure albums as well.

All of Zep's catalog has been remastered.

-Radiohead (Pablo Honey, Bends, OK Computer)

Why those? They're not old, and OK Computer doesn't sound like it needs remastering anyway. Don't know about the other two.

-Joni Mitchell catalog on Reprise/Warner

Joni's material has been remastered lately. Maybe not all of it, I don't know. But Blue and Court & Spark have been remastered for a while now. Others that I can't remember right now too.

I'd add the Parliament/Funkadelic catalog. About 4 Funkadelic albums have been remastered.

ZEP was remastered quite a while ago...they need to RE-remaster em! The Stones ABCKO catalog was remasterd some time ago and they were all just re-released again with state-of-the-art remastering...ZEP needs the same treatment

Believe me...the first 3 Radiohead records need some sonic upgrading...I listen to them all the time and they do not sound like (sound-quality-wise) KID A and AMNESIAC

Joni needs some remastering action as well...BIG TIME!

The first three Madonna albums have been re-mastered,but I think it's about time for 'Like A Prayer' to receive the re-mastered treatment.

The first Rose Royce album 'In Full Bloom' was re-mastered several years ago,as was the 'Car Wash' soundtrack.

yeah, this is the one that i can't figure out... bob dylan single handedly revolutionized songwriting, he was the first to do the "creepy rock star who never gives you straight answers and you never know that much about his personal life" thing that prince copped, he re-wrote the rules about what a rock singer had to sound like, etc, etc... and not a single one of his albums have been digitally remastered, save for "blonde on blonde" on the gold master disc... confuse disbelief

i can't understand this... get up on that thing sony, damn...

but on a good note, they are issuing volume 5 of the bootleg series... it's gonna be a 2 disc set of the rolling thunder revue tour... cannot wait... "hard rain" is a good album, but at 9 songs, it doesn't really give you the feel of the rolling thunder tour... should be out sometime next month...

I was under the impression that Lovesexy was to be remastered in Dolby 5.1 at some point in the near future

I didn't think 5.1 tech was used on audio CD. I heard that eventually audio CD format will adopt the Dolby digital format. I can't see that becoming a standard format.

I find the Stones Virgin remasters adequate. They're certainly not as good as the brand new ABKCO remasters, but shit...I'd rather wait a few more years to get an even bigger upgrade in technology than to re-buy everything I won every five years! I mean, it doesn't make any sense for the record companies to remaster an album every four weeks or some shit...

These artists need some remastering...deluxe editions of albums...bonus tracks (if possible!)...etc:

Dylan
Beatles
Prince
old ATCQ

I said less than 5. And it's not common for cd's to be remastered AGAIN after that span of time, if at all.

Definitely the parliament catalog needs to be remastered as well as restoring if not all some of the packaging. I know the artwork wouldn't really compare to the vinyl versions, but some kind of upgrade is better than the two page booklet.

Actually, practically everything! Considering that the replacement for the DVD is ALREADY a physical reality, isn't it about time we moved on to the high quality 192 megahertz (or kilohertz, I forget which) digital standard and issue albums on DVD? Neil Young was going to do this with his planned retrospective, but I don't know what came of it. Many CDs still sound cold and lifeless with practically no imaging, compared even to cassettes. Oh well, back to vinyl I guess... sad
