when i hear them it always reminds me of when they were on the Mtv awards i believe it was, and sang "Dream On". and my mother said this is an old song..and i was telling her no it's not it's their new one. needless to say she was right. redface who knew my mom was an Aerosmith fan? eek lol

i was about to correct you when i read "the best rock band ever" but then i realized the qualifier "american" was in there. i don't agree with it but i don't see any reason to be offended. lol

carry on...

I ADORE them! Pump is my ultimate favorite, and "Janie's Got a Gun" went a long way to define my musical journey.

I love Aerosmith.

Tyler is amazing.

Somewhat Off-topic, I was in the car the other day listening to "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" and thinking this would have been something cool for Prince to have made.

I mean the obsession and not wanting to even go to sleep because you'd miss looking at he love of your life and might miss her blink or breathe or something. lol

And making a WHOLE song about that one sentiment. And screaming and squealing by the end.

Why isn't PRince making songs so emotive and evocative (and rockish. Thankfully Planet Earth is somewhat Rockish). Instead of singing about baby mamas and 'haters' I wish he'd listen to some STeve Tyler.

Prince's best music is the evocative, weird obsessive thought. Like Sister, Lady Cab Driver, Let's Pretend We're Married, 17 Days, HCYDCM, etc.

OK. Back on Topic. My fav AErosmith songs are still Cryin' and Amazing. But who wouldn't like Dude Looks Like a Lady. Aero always hits.

Yeah! I suspected Big Ones is the one you have; it has the modern hits, some of the best and most famous mainstream rock songs of the late 80's-early 90's.

well after saying how i liked this song and that song; realizing i had no Aerosmith in my collection i figured this would be the perfect one. but i hope they come out with a 2nd volumne with more current hits. i think they are one of the few artists that are consistent.

This one is pretty essential too:

And if you're in search of a studio album, you really can't go wrong with this:

hug

The four singles are monstruous ("Love in an Elevator", "Janie's Got a Gun", "What It Takes", "The Other Side"), but the album tracks are quite great too, especially "Monkey On My Back" and "Young Lust".

They were cooler on drugs in the 70s, the music was better.

Aerosmith were one of my first loves. And I still love them.

Saw them on a rainy night in Hyde Park last June. They have to be one of the most charismatic and dare I say it professional live bands out there.

A lot of people miss the funk/R&B influence from their early days (See for example thier boss Cover of 'Mother Popcorn/Cold Sweat', or 'Same old Song and Dance').

The drugs worked for them for a time (until 'Rocks') but after then the drugs became an extremeley negative influence on the Band's camaeraderie and thier albums and their live performances. They could not have pulled of thier Lazarus like resurrection in the late 80's if they were still getting high. granted, Later Aerosmith is not as good as the earlier stuff, but there are still many damn fine songs from this era.
