New Me'shell Album Release Date

Give her an early birthday present by pre-ordering one or more versions of Meshell's new album "The World Has Made Me The Man Of My Dreams" by clicking the album cover:

The domestic U.S. release will have 12 tracks. For a tracklisting, check out her extensive discography here.

For those fast enough to order quickly, there is a "Limited Edition Softpack" (extremely limited to only 1000 copies) that has an exclusive previously unreleased bonus track: "Soul Spaceship." Both the limited edition and the regular version will be released on September 25th. The Limited Edition Softpack will be a very sought after collectors item amongst admirers for years to come. Click here to pre-order the limited edition instead of overpaying on eBay after it's sold out...

(You may read elsewhere that the "Limited Edition" is a 2-disc set. It is not. Those websites have been misinformed.)

The Japanese CD release has the bonus track: "A Different Girl (Every Night). The release date for the Japanese version is September 4th. So, if you pre-order it now, not only do you get free shipping, but you get the album 3 weeks early and a bonus track not available on either of the domestic U.S. releases.

The European release of the album will have 12 tracks on it. It will be the same as the domestic U.S. release.

For those of you that might be wondering why all 14 tracks aren't just on every version of the new album, this isn't the first time this has happened. The Japanese release of her masterpiece "Bitter" in 1999 had an alternate version of "Wasted Time." The Japanese release of her groundbreaking "Peace Beyond Passion" in 1996 had the classic "Soul Searchin' (I Want To Know If It's Mine)" on it. One could argue that the remix of "Pocketbook" that appeared on "Cookie" in 2002 was also a bonus track. Neither of the above mentioned Japanese releases are available any longer, so get your hands on the Japanese version of her new album while you can.

If you're only going to pick up one of the domestic copies of Meshell's new album and are looking to take advantage of Amazon's Free Shipping promotion (on orders over $25), check out the new album by Raul Midon entitled "A World Within A World." The release date for Raul's new album is also September 25th. Raul recently posted a comment on Meshell's MySpace exclaiming "I still can't get over the way you played on 'Save My Life.' Every time I listen to that song you captured the essence, groovin hard and laid back all at the same time."

And if this all wasn't exciting enough, stay tuned to this website for upcoming fall dates throughout all of the U.S. and Europe.

I just put my order for the limited edition one at Amazon.com. I wonder if it's better than the Comfort Woman joint that she dropped four years ago.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The middle section after Berry Farms to God.Fear.Money I can't listen to.

i don't skip tracks on CW.

either Peace or Bitter are my favorites.

CW is cool and sensual, but it's way too laidback for my taste. I skipped about 4 tracks on CW and the first time I ever did that on a Meshell disc.

i think i'll just wait for the standard edition released to stores. i'll download the bonus tracks. i really can't be bothered to waste the money on and time tracking down all these different editions of CD's anymore.

but i promise her i'll try to remember to feel bad about it wink

i disagree with you. "love song #2" and "love song #3" rock harder than anything on "cookie."

but hey, if you're looking for rock, then you're going to love the new album.

that's not all i'm worried about, I love the message as well, however I just can't listen to the middles section of Cookie.

I think for me for the most part when Me'shell does a high engery album like Plantion Lullibies and Cookie the slow songs to me seem out of place and subpar.

However Bitter and Comfort Woman are amazing albums from start to finish, IMHO

That leaves me with Peace Beyond Passion as the best because all the songs worked even though it was mostly high engery the slow songs even rocked.

To be honest with you all, I don't think I'm going to be all that enthused with Meshell's new joint. After listening to some of the samples on the Barnes & Nobles website, I just had mixed feelings because it's way too weird to me and experimental. Don't get me wrong I've loved Meshell ever since her classic debut came out in '93 and she has excited me after that one came out. But as of 2007, with the release of The World Has Made Me The Man of My Dreams, I think Meshell has dropped the ball slightly with this one. It lacks diversity in rhythm, the production was all to cluttered, and the songs are too average.

you can tell that by 30 sec samples?

have you heard any of the live tracks that leaked a few months ago?

I may have to pick this up. From the samples I think there's some promise. I like jazz but for some reason just couldn't get into "Dance of the Infidel". I'm going to have to give that one another try.

But I really disliked "Comfort Woman" because the songs all sounded like extended leftovers from songs released on some of her earlier albums but were just too long to make on to the cd's in full form.
