The Dells were just the voices, the story wasn't about the Dells, but just about 60's Soul Music in general. Many of the events in the story actually took place in towards real life soul musicians of that time. Bird being threatend over the balcony, that's Jckie Wilson, Eddie King Jr. doing drugs and being voted out the group for Flash, thats David Ruffin & Dennis Edwards.
