Your World of Music

You are now living in a world where the only music you will ever hear again, is the music that has been uploaded to a microchip in your head.

Which 10 artist's catalogues would you select?...

Miles Davis
Duke Ellington
Louis Armstrong
Ray Charles
Frank Zappa
Stevie Wonder
The Supremes
Jimi Hendrix
Allan Holdsworth
Mahalia Jackson

...Remember, this is it!

The laws of the land are that if you cannot decide on 10 or attempt to select more than 10, your memory of music itself will be permanently erased.

Welcome to the real world

An exercise designed to make you think about what you listen to and why.

Remember you get to have the complete catalogue of each artist.

That's what is making this tough for me. I can rattle off my top 10 artists in a jiffy, but if I was forced to only have access to 10 artists for the rest of my life, I'm not sure that it would be the same list.

Miles

So, kind of like an IPod with the complete catalogues (including bootlegs) of your top ten artists in constant random circulation in your brain? cool

Well, like you, tA, I think it wise to choose ten with large catalogues to stop going mad with repetitiveness. biggrin

So, for me -

Louis Armstrong
Duke Ellington
Elvis Presley
The Beatles
Brian Wilson/ The Beach Boys
John Lee Hooker
James Brown
Frank Zappa
Miles Davis
Prince

I suppose the above artists make up the main 'nations' of my musical world, but there would be many many other 'countries' and 'islands' I would miss deeply.

To think, that I would then never again get to listen to the Doors' 'Riders on the Storm' or 'LA Woman', or Hendrix's 'All Along the Watchtower', Bob Marley's 'Exodus' or Stevie Wonder's 'They Won't Go When I Go' or 'Superstition' ... cry wink

Oh well, at least I'd still have 'Irresistable Bitch'and 'The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue'. biggrin cool

Thanks again.

this would HAVE to include all of their productions too:

James Brown (Yup, Marva Whitney and everything)

The Beatles (I could be greedy and make a Paul McCartney loophole to include Wings, but really..)

Herbie Hancock

Stevie Wonder (that means Syreeta and all that)

Prince (oh yeah, and all those bootlegs, and groups like The Family)

Michael Jackson (yeah, I'll take his Jackson 5 & Jacksons stuff too lol nana)

Madonna batting eyes

Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis wink (SOS Band, Cherrelle, Janet, Alexander O'Neal..)

Marley Marl (Do you realize how many acts this includes? razz )

and Miles Davis would have a great catalog to feast on (I have only heard a fraction of it)
