Is Madonna's Career Over With?

Her last album only sold 1.6 million copies in the US. Sort of different than the 12 Million Like A Virgin sold. Her tour made a lot of money because of the ticket prices, but posted empty seats in a lot of places. Her adoption was absolutely pathetic and the only reason she did it was so she could get a "black" baby to match the color of her black handbag. Is she over with? Lets debate like honest people.

It's not over unless, she wants it to be. She's still in a great position to write her own ticket, even if they're rediculously expensive.

No. Her career is in great shape. BTW, she sold 10 million copies of Confessions on a Dance Floor. The US is not the ONLY market in the world.

They had a huge report on Fox News saying that she was about to be dropped by Warner Brothers. They were very upset how she stole her little "black baby" from his loving father. They were also upset about poor concert ticket sales.

That's true

I think her career is over in US, but her icon status makes her sell millions outside the US

No, of course not.

You have to remember that filesharing is still going on, and that actual sales figures don't really represent how 'popular' an artist is, anymore.

ok WTF? you guys may be from the US, but in the rest of the world including Canada, she's still huge, and I mean huge. I couldn't get away from hearing confessions in stores for over a year, and her tour was all anyone talked about. Everyone was feeling her.

In other words, there's no chance in hell Ms. Ciccone's career is over. She's now 25 years into her career anyways. The talk about her being over is so 1985. lol

As long as there's gay people, Madonna will have a career

Not even close. And no matter how many records she sells, Mariah will never be as relevant or one 1/100th as important as Madonna. thumbs up!

Tina Turner never went on fill-time retirement until age 60.

I expect Madonna to keep going until age 60 as well.

Stupid statement but even if it was true it has no bearing on her career.

The question isn't will she hold up for ten more years - the question is has she lost her hold on a large scale audience? Can she continue to sell tickets & cds or will she move into the legends category which means successful tours with low cd sales? Is she relevant anymore to the buying market?
These same questions were asked before Ray of Light was released
& that cd resulted in a career rejuvenation.
Can she do it again? confused

Madonna has never been just about the music. When that happens, we will all know that her career is over. biggrin

Career may be over, but something else would be just beginning

Yes. Her once abandoned acting career. I kid. I am sure that if Madonna focuses just on the music, she will produce something great -- I think.
