What was the first album/cassette/CD you ever owned?

As a kid in the 1980's, my parents were really cool about what my brothers and I could listen to.

Since my parents viewed Prince as to mature for a child under 10 to listen to, I was treated to:

Cool idea.

I think the first that I was GIVEN was a cassette of the Beatles Live at Hollywood Bowl.

THe first album I bought was silverchair's Freakshow back in 1997. Back when they were good.

cool

1972: I was about 6...I actually had some 45's earlier than that, but my first actual album (LP) was a Christmas present that year:

the first vinyl I can remember
begging my mother to get me was this:

don't remember my first cassette
as my sister "handed me down"
tons of hers when she moved out

were 2 that I remember...

'86 was really the year I started
to pay attention to the music
of the times... before then I was always
digging in my mama's crates for the
really good stuff

my very first CD was:
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

The Simpsons / The Simpsons Sing The Blues (1990)

I think this is the first Compact Disc I asked my mom to buy? I was in the record store with her and I remember the experience of buying this.

I got it from a music store called The Wherehouse in Redondo Beach, Calif. back in 1990. At that time, mostly all CDs were being sold in long-sleeve cardboard boxes, so The Simpsons CD had this long red box and I remember it looking really nifty. I wore out the songs Deep Deep Trouble and Do The Bartman [I believe DJ Jazzy Jeff produced or co-wrote on both tracks? I don't have the liner notes of the album]. And I liked Mr. Burns song with Smithers and "Sibling Rivalry" was also great. I remember Compact Discs were new back then, so I remember thinking the sound quality was amazing and I used to trip out at how the bass sounded on Do The Bartman. Plus, it was a BIG song when I was in elementary school. Go figure.
