Anyone remember Pressha's Splackavellie

Me and my homeboy was chillin' the other day about talking about old video/songs from back when we was in school. I then brought of the song Splackavellie by a brotha named Pressha. That track came out when we was 6th graders. People at our school was going wild over that track.

I decided to watch it and laughed for about 45 minutes straight. Good ol' Hodges Bend Middle School.

That song royally sucked. I worked in radio at the time and the station I worked at played the hell out of that song.

It is such a novelity track. U can't help but laugh.

It's hard to believe that the song was released by LaFace records in conjuction with Untouchables entertainment (the same people that brought us Donnell Jones).

Splackavellie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The term"Splackavellie" first gained popularity as the the title of a hit R&B song from 1998 by the artist Pressha, part of the soundtrack to the 1998 movie The Player's Club.

"Splackavellie" describes a kind of man (or "superman") that women who are in relationships use for sexual pleasure uncomplicated by relationship matters (perhaps because of them). Supposedly, when a woman's man isn't treating her right, her "Splackavellie" can "work it all night...until the morning light" in such a way that she is made to feel "right, right right!". Pressha and other promoters of the term claim that "every woman needs her own Splackavellie".

The unusual word is thought to be a corruption/contraction of "Splack" (slang term meaning "copulation" or "to copulate") and "Machiavelli." The spelling of the word is confirmed within the song. The use of Machiavelli in the term is likely due merely to the historical figure's popularity in hip-hop culture, since there is nothing intrinsically Machiavellian about the subject of the song.

Controversy surrounding the term "Splackavellie" never really erupted, although many were confused about the orthographic variants.

The Splackavellie remix became a fan favorite as well, with its more upbeat tempo and repeated chanting of the title word: "S, P, L, A, C, K, A, V, E, L, L, I, E: Splackavellie!"

Many people also favor the remix version of the song because it lacks a snippet from the Players Club movie which discusses one's options of persuading a person that is delinquent in paying his bills to follow through. Many options are discussed, but death is disfavored because "dead man don't pay no bills."
