Madonna Michael Jackson Prince I think MJ...hands down. He started the 80s off pretty good with left-over hits from Off The Wall (Rock With You, She's Out of My Life, etc.). Then Thriller hit and every single was number one. Then Bad, and almost every song hit number one. So it has to be MJ for sure. Madonna and Prince did well, but they didn't have the appeal that MJ had. MJ was appealing to EVERYONE...young and old. He had 50 year olds trying to moonwalk. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Prince. But I may be slightly biased. "She made me glad to be a man"

I think MJ sold more than P and Madonna combined. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

i believe Thriller sold better than Prince's entire catalog Wouldn't doubt it, IC. Throw Bad in there and MJ should be the undisputed king of the 80's hill, saleswise. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

i believe Thriller sold better than Prince's entire catalog it did. Prince has sold around 80 million records whereas Thriller sold 104 million copies "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Given that Prince has dozens of singles and albums hit the popular music charts, he is a popular musician, REGARDLESS of what genre of music he plays. And he IS a star. So, I guess he's a popular star. Semantics, semantics, I know, but I'm just sayin'. . . (I consider Prince to be somewhat of a genre unto himself, but that's just me). My favorite is Prince but any fool knows that Michael Jackson won the charts battle by miles. Andy is a four letter word.
