A bad, bad choice because "ghetto youth" phrases don't sound quite right coming out of Prince's mouth. On that point I think he really was clueless as to the connotations of "baby mama".. My children keep me straight about even daring to venture into using their lingo and I also remember how mortified I was as a kid when my mother tried it. I don't think he is... Like Noz stated, he's just trying to stay hip to the lingo.. And I'm sure that's not his first time hearing that phrase... Baby Mama has been around for decades when i was a teen a brutha would say "i need to drop some duckets off at my baby mama's house". and i'm forty now. I have not been impressed with any lp after SOTT . i respect his creative business moves more. Oh' yeah i dug the BMST, LS & D&P but not as a hold. anything with this on it has no or lil appeal so i haven't heard a complete or a complete album since the return of the name prince to this day.

Possibly. Then again y'all may have a point. For example in the song The One U Wanna C he says "I know you ain't no concubine" then proceeds to say things like "I got a lotta money" and "I like pretty thangs"...not "ladies" mind you, but "thangs" or maybe I'm reading too much into it? babynoz...you know me....i'm a pretty big prince fan right? we paid $312.10 to see him in Vegas, i've seen him live about 25 times in the past ten years.....but the main reason i have stuck with the org is this forum
i'm always looking for new music and the people on here have turned me on to some great music so i spend most of my time here trying to discover new music and share thoughts about music from the past so far, every time i seem to post a negative comment about the new release, i get insulted and it seems more negative comments are thrown my way....just because i don't like Planet Earth at all it's almost like i'm insulting the fans, instead of prince's music and i'll never understand that kind of fan.....it makes me feel like i'm in high school again or something

I like "All the Midnights in the World", "Chelsea Rodgers" and "Resolution". I'm not too keen on "Guitar" or "Mr. Goodnight". I can't stand "Future Baby Mama". However, it adds up to more than the sum of its parts. I'm pretty fond of this album and have been playing it non-stop since I got it! Yep, I have to say that I agree with Moonbeam. I enjoy most of the cd, but I don't like Future Baby Mama and Mr. Goodnight is a bit lame too. As for the rest, I think it's quite good.

Yeah,Prince is holding back on the funk. He sure is. The only funky thing on the album is the funky disco type track "Chelsea Rodgers",which is my favorite on the album. There's nothing on it that's particularly horrible or embarrassing
Oh yes there is! That damn "Mr. Goodnight" is horrible and embarrassing. It sounds kinda sellout, radio friendly, shit hoppish and you know how I feel about shit hop. If a songs even resembles shit hop in the slightest, the artist that recorded it needs to be drug into a back alley somewhere and have his ass beaten severely. I like "Somewhere Here On Earth","Future Baby Mama" and "Chelsea Rodgers"
We always did have similar tastes. Those are really the only three songs that I really like on the album. I love "Chelsea Rodgers". Of course, you know how I feel about disco. Disco is what changed music for the better and the further people drifted away from disco (meaning the late 80s when things got slower and slower tempo....disco was nothing more than uptempo funk and the funk in the early 80s was a more uptempo funk than the 1970s), music turned to absolute bullshit in the late 80s when the tempo got away from "disco speed". Disco should be given the highest honor for the betterment of music. I love "Somewhere Here On Earth" better than any of the slow jams he's done in recent years. It has a sexy "spacey" feel to it. As I said in the "Prince: Music and More" section, the song reminds me a little of Rick James' "Spacey Love". I love the sound of "Future Baby Mama". However, as great as the song sounds, that damn ghetto ass shit hop title just makes me want to put my foot so far up Prince's ass that it would come out his throat. but the other songs don't really grab me.The pop/rock tracks sound bland.
I can deal with "Guitar", even though it ain't one of Prince's greatest rock songs. I even can kinda halfway deal with "Planet Earth". But those other rock songs, have those damn accoustic guitars on them that make the songs sound depressing. Those damn accoustic guitars almost make them sound country. Hell, I want to hear Prince sounding like Prince, not Prince sounding like Buck Owens and Roy Clark a'pickin' and a'grinnin' on "Hee Haw" with an ole hound dog laying at their feet. That's what happens when Prince starts getting all these damn diverse fan groups. I've read threads over in the "Prince: Music and More" section of people asking when Prince would do a country album. Oh hell naw, hopefully never. They try to take Prince as far away as what he originally started out as....a funk/rock artist. Those fans need to go buy them a damn Conway Twitty CD, put in in their pickup truck with the Confederate Flag painted in the back window, and spit Skoal while they listen to it. PR is, more specifically, a ballad. It's just urban rock & roll. A kind of heartlands rock & roll that appealed to white people because they could sing along with it. Maybe this style crossed over into a newer slicker kind of country that was popular at the time, but it really had a lot more in common with Motown and Northern Soul around the Great Lakes area. Makes sense since Seger is also from Detroit. I will grant PR brings to mind Seger's tunes with their overexaggerated chorus and guitar solo, but I don't see anything "country" in it. test
