For me it's a little like what Miles said. I like PE much more than Musicology but not as much as 3121. I only liked half the songs on PE to begin with, my favorite being Planet Earth and SHOE. Other than that my interest is already waning and I've gone back to 3121. As others have stated I won't count P out just yet though...he's still kickin a-- live as I witnessed on 777 and an album more to my liking could be just around the corner. That's exactly how I feel. I definitely like PE more than Musicology but not more than 3121. PE and SHOE are my favorites too and I am also losing interesting in PE already. **goes to play The Dance** | |

PE really didn't move me. I enjoy guitar, CR and Lion of Judah but I don't see myself listening to it any time soon. Maroon 5 doin Prince better than Prince says a lot doesn't it.
There's just too many artists out there doing it better than P(often very much influenced by him) for me to waste time trying to enjoy his attempts at trying to get back in the mainstream. | |

Well I hang in this forum and the Prince forum too, but I'll stick in my 2 cents and say that although the album is weak, I am enjoying it.
To me it pales in comparison to 3121, which I absolutely LOVED! For this album, I love the first 5 tracks, and the last 5 I'm still mulling over ....and yes, I too am digging Maroon 5's plastic funk more the PE If you will, so will I | |

Yeah,Prince is holding back on the funk. There's nothing on it that's particularly horrible or embarrassing, but it's far from being a masterpiece.I like "Somewhere Here On Earth","Future Baby Mama" and "Chelsea Rodgers" but the other songs don't really grab me.The pop/rock tracks sound bland. | |

I like "All the Midnights in the World", "Chelsea Rodgers" and "Resolution". I'm not too keen on "Guitar" or "Mr. Goodnight". I can't stand "Future Baby Mama". I'm glad you asked! It is a piece of shit! People on the Prince Forum are a afraid to be honest for fear of the backlash.
The best song he had on there was future baby's momma. But he fucked up the song by calling it baby's mama. I hate it when people use derogatory words and try to make it cool. In my mind baby's mama = hood rat. Why not just say I'm looking for miss right or the Next Mrs. Nelson. That would of been cooler. I hate when Prince does stuff to try and show that he is still hip. It's not cool to say "that's my baby's mama". How about saying "that is the mother of my child." Prince, using ghetto terms won't make you cool. I liked musicology but Planet Earth and 3121 both sucked. His new music is just way too fucking bland. He needs to funk it up abit. Did he forget how to play the guitar? [Edited 7/30/07 12:07pm] | |

First off, The people of MJJForum are CRAZY and wierd. Did you look on KOP or MJNO? Here's what some MJ fans on MJNO said:
----- Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Finland Age: 15 bought Planet Earth yesterday, and I must say I like 3121 more. Or maybe I haven't really gotten into the album yet, it took me a while to get into 3121 too, and now I love it. So I'll just keep on listening, lol. At the moment my favourite songs from Planet Earth are Chelsea Rodgers (funky, I love it) and Mr. Goodnight ----- Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Stockholm, Sweden Age: 20 Planet Earth my view: Planet Earth: Great song, the best on the album, the middle part is kinda weak and weird, it totally changes direction and then back. As said before, it's the same type as Empty Room and Strays of the World. Guitar: The most radio-friendly song, but I like it, I think it's a grower. Somewhere Here on Earth: Not the best ballad on the album, but a grower, and you gotta love his falsetto. The One U wanna C: Real 80's feeling, it's one of those instant Prince classics, like Raspberry beret and I could never take the place... Future Baby Mama: The best ballad on the album. His falsetto is even better here. Great melody Mr Goodnight: Well, not many seem to like this song, but I think it's ok. His rap isn't the best but defo not the worst. All the midnights in the world: a short happy song, I like the melody. Chelsea Rodgers: Great party song, but I got to listen to it some more Lion of Judah: Can't say I get the lyrics, but I like the song, and the guitar of course. Resolution: Perfect closing song. I think it's sounds like a Revolution song. Over All: Very good album, I'd give it 8/10. It's mostly a rock album, which I think is great, his main instrument seem to be the guitar so, why not. Is it better than 3121? Well I think it's hard to compare, 3121 is not a rock album, so I don't know, I wouldn't say it's better, but at the moment I prefer Planet Earth ----- Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Minneapolis (I wish haven't stopped listening to the album since I got home. ----- Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: nottingham, UK Age: 20 planet earth is good. 8/10 best since gold experiance....hes grown up n having fun. i would kill for a mad creative album again tho...get rainbow children 2 in the works lol...oh n get camille back gd album tho yeh, still showing hes the man "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world." | |

I've been over to the Music & More forum a couple times, but it seems to me like a bunch of people who can't get over the fact that the 80's are over. They're the same people who still love Jordan Knight or people like that. There's very little thought going on over there, and plus, I like a lot of artists besides Prince so this is a better fit for me.
As for PLanet Earth, I've only listened to it twice, but so far I like it. I'd have to listen more before I could tell you more about it. | |
