I saw the movie and in no way did they portray Lavoe as being only half Latino. The acting was superb (especially Marc Anthony), but the movie jumped around a lot and was a little bit hard to follow.

Marc does look like Hector. except that he's a little emaciated looking and Hector's face is fuller. Jennifer Lopez did a good job, the best thing I've seen her in since "Out of Sight."

I do think that the movie sugar coated some events in Lavoe's life and mashed some events together. But otherwise I still think it's worth seeing.

that was my biggest problem with it , some scenes should have been longer (hector jumping off the balcony), somethings should have been gone into more (the death of their son or atleast he shoulda been given more screen time, hectors early days in puerto rico), and somethings shoulda been built up to more (hectors ny debut) - all in all it still rocks

Totally agree with you here. I wished they had made a little more of him being in NYC before he becomes more famous, like maybe him making his debut at the club and getting discovered as a singer.

But the movie is awesome! Marc is incredible and JLo (who I've never really gotten into) is awesome as well. I'm gonna have to get some of those Colon/Lavoe albums! This is the best music movie to come out in a long time!
