They are great
they do a great rendition of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" that can be found "Orgin of Symmetry" as well as my favorite Muse song "New Born": their 3rd? Absolution is great, and what ive heard of Revelations I like. Check out "Take A Bow" on there

Good band, songs aren't too bad, but the singer is way too stuck on Thom Yorke... almost indistinguishable at times... quite unoriginal singing, but his guitar work is nice.

i despise Muse. saw them live, excellent showmen, shame i found the music shallow and pretentious. Supermassive Black Hole for me is easily their best song. i loves dat funk. Nose holes caked in black cocaine

[Edited 7/21/07 4:50am] My sentiments exactly. This group definitely has potential.

[Edited 7/21/07 4:50am] My sentiments as well. I do like the music though. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Man, after checking out this new tune, it seems he left the Thom Yorke thing behind! Great tune. Funky stuff for Muse. I hear some Prince influence. Nice. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

in human language that would translate into...what? I believe what she's trying to say is that this new Muse song is influenced by the work of a lot of OTHER black male guitar players (ala Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Eddie Hazel, etc., etc.) rather than Prince ("one associated with Minneapolis").

I'm digging the heavier stuff, the classical influence (almost Queen sounding), the Radio Head thing is there but there's quite some depth here in the 3 cds I've been listening to.

I really like Muse. In fact, I've really been getting into them slowly over the past couple of years. (it takes me a while for some things )
Actually, today on MTV2 (the Brit version of the channel) they were having some sort of Muse marathon and they played a ton of their videos. It made me realize that the songs I like best from them are all on albums I don't yet have! I only have Black Holes and Revelations and Showbiz. I am missing some of their better albums I think. They really do have their own sound though, which is kind of hard these days. Years ago I also thought they sounded like Radiohead wannabes and readily dismissed them but they have really evolved and have their own thing going on and I really like it. You can tell they love Bach. Plus, the guitar riff at the end of "Knights of Cydonia" is one of the best to come along in a LONG time imo. It reminds me of something Thin Lizzy would have done. Like "Warriors" or something. http://www.youtube.com/wa...V1bRfLHA3A "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

It's like they sound like so many different bands but are unique in all sounding like Muse. They have a distinct 80's thing happening sometimes, then I hear Soundgarden on some of the heavy riff based tunes...I'm just really digging this band right now. Some of the live stuff I've seen on youtube look they can pull it off except for the poster here who said they sucked live, anyone else seen them?

People say Matthew Bellamy sounds like Thom Yorke, but I don't hear it all that much. I do think he sounds like Jeff Buckley a lot of times though. (when Jeff Buckley starts wailing ) I haven't seen them live, although everything I've seen of them as far as live footage goes has been really good. I still remember the first time I ever saw them or even heard of them. I was flipping through channels probably about 5 years ago and there was a live show of theirs on MTV. I thought "who IS this?!" because they were REALLY good and I ended up watching the whole show even though I had just found out who they were right then. Muse is a great band. Check out their Hullabaloo Soundtrack, also; that has some fantastic music on it. "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." - Khalil Gibran
