I don't know if I'd call his playing "lazy" but it's certainly uninspiring. He's one of those blues-rock guitarists who look cooler than what they are actually playing {see: Saul Hudson}.

i call bullshit.
perry's stuff in the seventies was great. and the next time you talk shit about saul you'd better be wearing a cup. "appetite" is on its way over, and its got a pipe wrench. now i know what this is all about. now i know exactly what i am.

The only pipe "Appetite" is bringing over consists of crack.Joe Perry is an unremarkable guitar player at best. And so is Slash. Both have never played anything that I thought was musically interesting OR that I haven't heard someone else do better.

hes superb live, I had the good fortune to go see Aerosmith in dublin at the start of the month and i was 5 foot away from the man, hes got a fucking great style of playing and his vibrato is cracking and not to mention his riffs, i mean think of all the superb aerosmith songs, thers a fair few that he came up with! id say hes along the lines of jimmy page he writes amazing riffs sure hes not the best lead player around but hes just the right guitarist for led zep,
as is joe for aerosmith "Im Too Funky To Sleep With Myself"

Here's what Eddie Van Halen had to say about Joe Perry: "I don't like him because I don't think he likes me. I walked up to shake his hand, and he looked at me and walked away. As a guitarist I don't think he's that good. He lacks feel."

Has anyone tried his hotsauce?
Joe Perry has the image down pat - he's probably one of the coolest-looking cats to pick up an electric guitar. As far as playing goes, I dig him, though I'm more partial to Brad Whitford's playing. I actually dug Joe's playing on the Run DMC collaboration of "Walk This Way" more than on the original version. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I actually dug Joe's playing on the Run DMC collaboration of "Walk This Way" more than on the original version. I remember having the single of Run/DMC version. On the b-side it was Joe Soloing over the 'walk this way' riff for 3 mins or so. AWESOME! And you are correct, his playing there was better than the 'toys in the attic version'. Joe is more a great riff writer than great soloist. Still he had had his moments: Angel,Dude looks like a lady:Permanent Vaction Train Kept a rolling:Get your wings (there is a rumour that a session man played he solo! ) You see me crying:Toys Same old song and dance:Get your wings
