Funk fans: I am going to the Crossroads Festival in Chicago

I am going to see the following people:

Jeff Beck
Doyle Bramhall II
Eric Clapton
Robert Cray
Sheryl Crow
Vince Gill
Buddy Guy
BB King
Alison Krauss and Union Station
Sonny Landreth
Albert Lee
Los Lobos
John Mayer
John McLaughlin
Willie Nelson
Robert Randolph
Hubert Sumlin
Derek Trucks
Jimmie Vaughan
Steve Winwood

A BIG GIGANTIC BUT:

The same day/night the following people are playing:

Teena Marie
Ray Parker, Jr.
Alexander O'Neal
Cherelle

and get this:

MICHAEL HENDERSON!!! omfg

The Crossroads ticket was bought as a early birthday present to me but I am so thinking of cutting out early to catch the other show. What do you guys think? sigh

i thought a few times about going to the crossroads festival. it looks fantastic.

the other show has got some good names (though remember your alexander o'neal experience), but the crossroads gig has some LEGENDARY names.

is TheAudience gonna be here for this? it's like a dream line-up for him!

Yeah, I have never seen Clapton live but Michael Henderson pretty much has disappeared off the face of the earth and I am a bigger fan of his than Clapton. Teena Marie for that matter. sigh

Please don'r remind me of my Alex Baby experience. disbelief

i'm not big on clapton either. there are a handful of his songs i love, but he's never really clicked with me as a live performer. my mom loves him. shrug

i hear what you're saying, but buddy guy, bb king and willie nelson on the same bill would trump a lot of stuff as far as i'm concerned. and i'm not even that big of a willie nelson fan, but in a blues festival context, i bet he'd put on a really great show.

I was trying to forget about this show. neutral

There was even a plan to become a crackhead-in-training at the beginning of September so that I could lose all rational thought and justify going.

Just to say i'd seen Jeff Beck 3 times in the past couple of years.

You've gotta go check him out.
Last Crossroads Festival he didn't think his playing was up to par so he didn't allow his performances to be included on the DVD.

So many of those people I have never seen live and I am really looking forward to seeing Jeff Beck.
