Sly's new band

The new incarnation of Sly & The Family Stone...anybody heard them yet?

Are they worth checking out?

Agreed. He still has that voice, even if it is a little shaky either due to age, rustiness, frailty, nerves or all four. It's great to hear that funky, soulful baritone again tho, at its best sounding even richer due to age imo.

Fingers crossed, the more gigs he does, the greater his confidence will grow, and so too will his vocals.

They may be a good confidence crutch, but that band sounds all over the place and lacking in funk, which may become an issue in the longer term, re. future bookings, unless he improves and gets the band in shape or gets a better band. He could pick up a funkier band than that who know the songs from some LA bar, I'd guess. biggrin. But, maybe he needs a 'clean' band chemically, as it were, which partly explains why he's using his sister's band. Who knows?

I'm not expecting Larry to show up, but if a revitalised Sly can get as many old Family Stoners onboard as possible, it might be crowd pleaser too.
