I second that biggrin

Not a great lover of Shakira's music I must admit but you'd have thought she would have realised she can't 'sing' and dance at the same time - I thought the Pussycat Dolls did a better job and that's really saying something!

Wyclef virtually carried that performance single-handedly.

Jesus Madonna - what a joke!! The silly cow looked like a 50 year old christian school teacher trying to be cool by strumming a guitar. Looking like she should be doing a chorus of Kom-bi-ar instead she trys going all Angus Young and ends a making a total Muppet of herself. Most tragic mid-life crisis i've ever witnessed - how imbarrassing. That truely reeked! eek

And how pissed was Macy Gray! Sad skanky heffer eek

I hardly ever talk to the TV but I just found myself saying "Don't 'OH' over Sting!". Unbelievable. Still it's not as bad as Jay-Z and McCartney. At least Kanye had one good line "The only Police allowed in the hood".

Still a great performance by the Police.

Does anyone know who the other guitarist was playing with the Peppers?

Anthony actually sang fairly on-key! They were great. Go Flea, Chad, John, and of course Little Anthony!

I really liked Madonna, too, and I'm usually not a huge fan of hers!

Also, The Police were good, but my favorite guy to watch in that band is Stuart Copeland.

All in all, the concert was pretty entertaining.

That's Josh Klinghoffer. He's on a lot of John Frusciante's solo albums, playing guitar and other instruments and also singing back up. He's also worked with Beck, Gnarls Barkley and PJ Harvey.

She looked damn good though.

Native-Americans playing the Blues.

Other notable performances so far:
Soweto Gospel Choir
Spinal Tap Reunion

Pretty tired overall.

Thoughts:

I watched almost every single performance, and it took all damn day and night.

First Madonna was excellent after the 1st boring token performance. I am really happy with her duet with Gogol Bordello very ahead of the curve.

Foo Fighters could be the best pure rock band around..... They fng rocked with enthusiasm and a tight loud rock sound.

Peppers were ok, didn't like the song selections, but John as usual is unbelievable.

John Mayer. great solos set was way too short!@

Metallica. good sound. very boring song selection.

Police. tight sound. but Sting with that reggae dub thumb forefinger picking really makes the bass hard to hear and follow. Stewie was superb. The little jam 16 bar stuff they are doing doesn;t do it for me since I don't find Andy that great of a soloist or pure improv. THEY REALLY SHOULD NOT HAVE LET KANYE COME OUT> He totally brought down the performance with repetitive phrases. This too me proves why rappers like Kanye are not musicians. He may write words but he has no ability to merge into any musically challenging situation. Sorry I am so anti hip hop these days.

Ludacris was boring. These guys should know that the "way your hands stuff" is the cheesiest thing around and is used when they have nothing creative to bring.

Keith Urban played a couple of really good solo;s and as usual he always sounds good live.

Biggest Disapointment was Genesis. You have some talented musicians playing their "pop" hits and lowering the key for turn it on. just did nothing for me.
Music is the best...

Thank you! I noticed him in the background, and I thought he was rocking it!

Also... I forgot about the Foo Fighters. Oh yeah, Dave Grohl.. hot and rock star!

I told my husband--I think Dave was the genius behind Nirvana--or at least the glue holding that band together.
