Stand (and the rest of the remastered Sly Boxed Set) ...

Kicks major ass. I really have not had time to listen to this box set, but reading that vanity fair article made me listen to it on my I Tunes. Man I love the remastered Stand. Have listened to it 2 times today already. I've skimmed through the other 7 and the sound quality is superior. But i am about to go to the other spectrum and listen to Theres a riot going on. I have not been this excited on a revisit of an album since I broke out Herbie Hancock's Thrust. Between listening to this Ella Fitzgerald box set and Sly Boxed Set. I'm cool for the next few months.

I know what you mean! I've only listened to five of the seven albums contained in this set (A Whole New Thing, Stand, Riot, Fresh, and Small Talk). I listen to Small Talk more than any other album in the set and I must admit, it's a quite good record. The sound quality is mindblowing, compared to the previous 1990's reissues. The liner notes are very informative and the rare pictures are stunning.

Is anyone else's Fresh Remaster extremely different from the original? Pretty much every song on mine differs from the original CD copy in some way. Yet, when I listened to the 'Previously Unissued Alternate Mixes' at the end of the Remaster, they matched up with the actual songs on my original CD copy. Weird.

Needless to say, though, anything from Sly and The Family kicks major ass.

I read that there was in fact 2 versions of this album officially released.
The alternate can apparently still be found in european stores.
Maybe I even read that on this forum!

Wow, I must have the alternate version then. That's cool. I've got to say, I thought the remastered version of Fresh was sub-par compared to the alternate one I originally had. Most of the songs' arrangements are far superior on the alternate one. I was actually kind of dissapointed by the remastered version.
