Remember when "Video Killed The Radio Star"? Well, everything else done killed "The Video Star"! What was it in your opinion, that started the decline where media has/had been abandoned music had been ruined from a mainstream standpoint? [Edited 7/4/07 23:27pm] | |

When Napster came out. Also, for some reason, record companies weren't as quick to adopt the MP3 format like they did when they switched from vinyl and cassettes to compact disc. The record company did it to itself. They underestimated a lot of what was going on and were sleeping on a revolution. My first ever MP3 download was Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" back in 1998. I remember the sound quality blew me away at the time -- getting a full, near-CD quality song on your computer. For my people who remember .wav files and only having 30 or 60 seconds of crunchy sound you could definitely feel the difference. The record companies didn't know what was coming. i think when people started to realise just how greedy the record companies were. Whereas in years gone by we had no choice but to pay at the wrecka stow, now theres many ways of getting music cheaper or for free. | |

i think when people started to realise just how greedy the record companies were. Whereas in years gone by we had no choice but to pay at the wrecka stow, now theres many ways of getting music cheaper or for free. I guess what you are saying from a consumer's perspective is nice and all, but what about the artists that strive for greatness and in excelling with their will of ambition. | |

I am a writer and an "ASPIRRING ARTIST", but I have gotta master or at least grasp some sort of aspect of this instrument along with the piano. | |
