The Cure: Tour dates announced, new album on the way!

By way of Pitchfork:

The Cure have just announced the North American leg of their 2007 world tour, which means that Asians and Australians won't be the only ones treated to a healthy dose of makeup and mood this summer and fall.

The band are also readying their 13th studio album, the as-yet-untitled follow-up to their 2004 self-titled record, for a fall release on Suretone/Geffen.

Frontman Robert Smith, guitarist Porl Thompson, bassist Simon Gallup, and drummer Jason Cooper will begin their jaunt in Fuji, Japan on July 27, and they have shows scheduled through October 17 in Dallas at the oh-so-goth American Airlines Center.

Sheffield up-and-comers 65daysofstatic will open all of the North American shows.

I'd like to go only to say I've seen them play once, although this may be the fiftieth version of the band. Recommend at least five good albums I can add to my repertoire, I'm in a buying mood?

Do you have ANY Cure albums? If not then get these five first:

Pornography
The Head On The Door
Kiss Me, Kiss Me Kiss Me
Disintegration
Wish

With the exception of Head On The Door, I've been waiting twenty years since I first heard of The Cure ( DAMN THAT'S A Mighty long time ) to get those albums. I must thank MTV's 120 Minutes for playing their songs endlessly, those were the good old days. cool That's what I'm going to buy then, thanks.

They're kinda doing this ass backwards.

Why not tour here in the summer when, you know, it's nice out. And then tour Australia later in the year when, you know, it's nice there?

I've loved it from the very beginning, but I know a lot of people are appreciating it more now than they did back then as a classic Cure album.

Anyone got any info on this new album they're cooking up?

I got it cheaper than that new from yourmusic.com. Still, it's worth every penny you paid!

Any news on the latest batch of reissues? I'm waiting impatiently for the remastered Disintegration and Wish...
