I have one of his albums, but not that particular one.The album I have is from 1986 and includes the singles "Who Do You Love" and "After You".

I'm interested in hearing his other albums.

His earlier albums are def worth the look-out,,,,he seemed @ a crossroad though when he made that 1986 album, like he was going with the motions.

You didn't like that 1986 album? lol In addition to the two singles I listed above,it contains a really good slow jam "Just When I Thought You Were Mine" music it's worth hunting for if you don't already have it

Same. A friend has it, and I think it wants to be borrowed. I have a couple of tracks, though...and I love them.

sometimes...
people are people..catch an artist in a happy/creative mode..then they are cool..catch them in the middle of a divorce or other personal problems then it aint so cool..thankfully whenever we have hung out he's given me lots of good advice about staying true to my vision.and other business pitfalls to avoid.

I love all the Jamaica Queens Kats--Bernard Wright, Don Blackman, Tom Browne, Marcus Miller, Lenny White & Twennynine, Bobby Broom, Omar Hakim, Jamaica Boys, etc.--and the late Weldon Irvine, of course!!!

I loved the fact that they weren't bound by one type of music--- most of their albums spanned Jazz, Funk, Pop, and whatever else.....

Me too. If I had friends, I'd throw a Jamaica Boys party. No other music allowed.

There's still a few I'm trying to hunt down, too!

I always thought that must've been so kool, to have practically a whole neighborhood full of musicians --- Weldon Irvine (who wrote 'Young Gifted and Black) was like the local Quincy Jones or Art Blakey, and just about all those guys came through his bands at one point or another...not long before he died, he was giving piano lessons to Hip Hop artists like Q-tip and Mos Def....

At the time the 'Nard album came out, Bernard Wright was only about 16!!! He was definitely the Kitten of all the Kats.....

Where I was from..either you were a thug (the majority) or you were a person that traveled to other parts on new york like manhattan ect...and had a bit more of a cultured vibe..(RARE) or you were a local homeboy hanging in the hood..either playing an instrument..sports..or ect..The musicians all knew each other..and since everyone pretty much lived in houses..somebodys basement had a jam going on..either at lennys or this dude named Bill Bell..or my friend to this day Bert Price..Bert later produced a teen group called IMAJIN..and we had a band with a keyboardist named Eric Cody he went on to play keys in a group called the Jamaica boys with another friend named Dinky..my musical roots are with those dudes smile
