That leaves us kind of short on the current artists of today (If you can call them that). OH, WAIT! There's alway "KEM". "What's in squeaks Then out comes the freaks!" No, there's quite a few current artists in the techno, jazz (traditional and "smooth" jazz) and gospel scenes. By the way, isn't that quote supposed to say, "Wood work squeaks and out come the freaks" by Don Was--also a Detroiter? Oh, yeah! You're right. It was something like that. Anyway, I heard "KEM" was a part "Don Was'" old group. You're right, though. I just remembered "Fred Hammond". I am sure there are a few others, now that I think about it. I feel so ignorant, especially about that lyric. | |

My suburb has no famous artists.
It was a bedroom community with absolutely no scene of any kind. If you live outside of L.A. County you've probably never heard of it. The suburb over: Hawthorne, California had the BEACH BOYS and the other suburb over Carson, California can claim Brandy, Ray J and an R&B boy band called The Boys ("Dial My Heart"). ... "Written All Over Your Face" was a huge hit in '91 -- and deservedly so. I saw Men at Large live once and those boys could really sing. At any rate, I thought they were from Ohio.
