Ain't many current artists that you can name. Most of them are "Motown-Bred". Then, there's "Eminem". That leaves us kind of short on the current artists of today (If you can call them that). OH, WAIT! There's alway "KEM".

My town is quite small, but my county (Kent, in England) gave the world The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Keane, Orlando Bloom, and Barry out of Eastenders.

Oh, damn! You got me on that. How could I forget? "Seven Nation Army" is madness. They are badasses, no doubt about that. I'd like to meet "Jack White", actually. Seems like he would be one intriguing character, no?

She's dreamy, and although a very good artist alone, she should really drop "Timothy Mosely". I don't care if he is making her hits skyrocket up the charts. She's more than that. She's better than the superficial mold, IMHO!

Ruth Brown was born in the DC area(actually Virginia) and worked at the clubs in DC....In fact Ahmet Ertegun drove down to DC from New York to hear her sing, and signed her up for Atlantic... ...

Toni Braxton was born in Maryland, just outside of DC...

she's changed so much from when she first came out!
if you told me four or five years ago when i was listening to "im like a bird" that she'd be releasing a song called "promiscuous" featuring her rapping, id be very shocked

Yeah, I know what you mean. It quite surprised me when I had seen her listed with the title of the song when the video premiered. I hate that song to this day. But, she's better than that. "Folklore" was her best album and it was not acknowledged as much as it could have been. It had "Sign "O" The Times"-itus written all over it. Like I said before, although I "USED" to like "Timbaland" moreso than I do now, I think it is safe to say that "Nelly Furtado" should go back to "Track & Field" and do her thang with them because they suit her more.

I know about the upcoming Black Francis album. Herman Brood was the biggest star that ever lived in our country. I am a huge fan of his music. Too bad that he died in 2001.

No, there's quite a few current artists in the techno, jazz (traditional and "smooth" jazz) and gospel scenes.

By the way, isn't that quote supposed to say, "Wood work squeaks and out come the freaks" by Don Was--also a Detroiter?
