And yes (to all of you), I knew EXACTLY what the hell I was doing when I started this thread. Because the "original" concepts of G-Funk is straight up sampling P-Funk.

Therefore, everyones opinion matters when deciding if sampling The Funk counts as being funking or not.....since George Clinton himself was always happy to get pay when too many rapper sample Atomic Dog.

Think about it.

They're RAP albums.

IMO, a true Funkateer does not borrow/rent/buy/steal FUNK from someone else. They create their own.

Of course, Snoop was able to get a blessing from Bootsy when it came to P-Funk samples since Booty's his uncle.

Ok y'all, we gotta get this straight now... is Bootsy actually related to Snoop Dogg? Last time we had this discussion people told me he actually wasn't, that he was just callin' him "Uncle". Then people said Charlie Wilson (of the Gap Band) was his uncle. Well, according to wikipedia, Charlie is not related to Snoop, he just calls him 'Uncle' aswell. So is anyone actually related to this mofo or not? confuse

Take 2...

IMO, a true Funkateer does not borrow/rent/buy/steal FUNK from someone else.
Nor accept pre-fabricated (aka sample) FUNK from a blood relative.

*Thou must layeth down ones own original FUNK from thine own hand.

...*That's either the 7th or 8th FUNK Commandment. wink

They are not funk albums, so how can they be classic funk albums?

That's like asking if a ham sandwich is a classic pork chop. They may have something in common but are not the same.

They are definately classic hip-hop albums, though. But you are asking for trouble by referring to them as funk.
