I saw most of the show and it was great. Hearing Sexy Dancer was a great treat! Good show. What year was that from? I thought it was from 1979 but And The Beat Goes On and The Second Time Around were big in the early 80s unless I'm mistaken. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Good episode for sure. Not sure about the show's original air date. SoulAlive or vainandy probably do. tA ![]() http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I was guessing what date the show aired too..I think this was from early to mid 1980. Today's episode was great. Chic was on point. High Inergy was OK but their music sounded like it was stuck in 1974.
I always wondered why Prince never peformed on Soul Train back in the early 80's. He did Bandstand, Midnight Special, SNL and even Solid Gold. Maybe the paycheck wasn't that good? (lol) Still waiting on BOOTSY. I would love to see the episode tribute to Rick James when he was on the entire show.

I think he avoided Soul Train early so he wouldn't be in lump in the R & B catagory... He wanted that cross over appeal... AND YES!!! Where's Bootsaaay??!!! And Raydio??!!! ![]()

Dick Gregory was droppin SCIENCE on the diet of black folks back in the. Damn near 30 years later and we still ain't learned anything. I heard ya Mr. Gregory and I will be dedicating a day a week to eating my raw vegatables and fruits. ![]() Why You Jive Turkey You....

Good episode for sure. Not sure about the show's original air date. SoulAlive or vainandy probably do. This show originally aired on March 1,1980 but I have a feeling that it was taped several weeks before that. All of the songs appear to be from the latter part of 1979.Certainly,by march 1980,Chic's "Good Times" was old news.

overall,I thought this episode was kinda boring ![]() But High Inergy?? ![]() ![]() Didn't really care for the Dick Gregory performance.Don's interview with him seemed to go on forever. Michael Jackson's "Workin Day and Night" was the perfect song for the line dance. That song is sooooo fast and relentless.Today's kids wouldn't know what to do with a groove like that ![]()

It was early 1980. It was a great show except for the long comedian act which bored the hell out of me. "Sexy Dancer" was my favorite part of the show. That song got the queens on the floor to hollerin'! ![]() Andy is a four letter word.

I agree the comedy was a bit outside of the box. some was funny and he looked like he was almost fifty instead of forty bragging about all them kids. and yeah the interview was long-winded.
why was move your boogie body cut off! high energy was cool. I wanted to hear other tunes by them. the ladies of chic performed expressionless over all it was a great show-- second time around was good. no ballet dancing and no tights on the funk jams. it was funny to see lou ski the guy from the eighties who was all over the place on the main stage out dancing on the floor with all that hair. and the costume man was on the floor that was cool. before his time. nipsy

Soul..that would have been intense! I would have been happy if he just came on the show back then (in 79/80) and rapped with Don.
I'm praying they'll run the episode when The Commodores took over the show. I think "Midnight Magic" was out at that time and they played "Sail On" and some other cuts.
