Instrumental Cut of the Day - Cast Your Fate to the Wind This Vince Guaraldi piece has been a favorite instrumental of mine ever since I initially heard the single in 1962.
Most folks recognize his piano as the "musical personality"... ...behind the Peanuts soundtracks. Cast Your Fate to the Wind was the single released from his... ...Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus album. Due to the success of the single, it was repackaged and renamed. It was remastered and rereleased in 1991. After holding down the piano spot for artists as diverse as Woody Herman, Nina Simone, Cal Tjader, Stan Getz, Mongo Santamaria and Jimmy Witherspoon, Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus would have to be considered his breakout album. The song has been heavily covered over the years... ...(just to illustrate a few) I think my favorite cover is probably Joe Walsh's echoplexed psychedelic James Gang take... ...during The Bomber sequence from Rides Again. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. So beautiful ~ I always thought it was one of the most perfectly titled works. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran | |
