I said this on some other thread before...I was surprised, no, quite shocked when I first heard Laid Back´s "White Horse " on youtube . It sounds a lot like Erotic City...which came out later but that doesn´t necessarily mean that Prince ripped it off. Maybe he wrote Erotic City first and Laid Back heard Erotic City before it came out and stole from Prince, I don´t know.

We had a discussion about this here on the org and some said that there was a rare promo of When Doves Cry with a Laid Back song as the b-side so maybe there was some sort of mutual respect and a collaboration though I can´t really understand what Prince saw in them.

Go check out White Horse and judge for yourself...I´m sure they were influenced by Prince or vice versa.

True, just heard White Horse and yes it has got a similar melody.I think Erotic City is phatter whereas White Horse has more of a European dance feel

I think huey lewis and the news were first contacted to do a song
for the ghostbusters soundtrack but had other obligations and could not
do it. So thus the ray parker jr. sound a like which huey and the boys got
wind of and obviously did not like it.

If I am not mistaken, Mariah based her "Fly Like a Bird" off of EWF's "Keep Your Head to the Sky".

Isley Jasper Isley - "Caravan Of Love", and Gregory Abbott - "Shake You Down '...

Meshell Ndegeocello - "Outside Your Door" and Brian Mcknight - "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind"....

Janet Jackson -"Time Flies" and - Ray Parker Jr - "After Midnite" , Al B Sure - "Night and Day", Sherrick - "Call Me" , Dino - "24/7", etc....for awhile there, it seemed like everyone was using a similar progression...I guess you could also argue that it all sounds like the end vamp of MJ's "The Lady In My Life"....

Major Harris - Love Won't Let Me Wait and Yolanda Adams - Open My Heart

Steeler's Wheel - Stuck In the Middle With You, and Sheryl Crow - "All I Wanna Do"

Yeah Yeah Yeahs's "Gold Lion" ripped off Love and Rockets's "No New Tale to Tell" shhh I like both songs. I always thought Kings of Leon's "Molly's Chamber" was similar to PJ Harvey's "Dress".
