Your 'Album of the Year'...So Far...

Well, 5 months into 2007 and I'm curious...

What is everyone's favorite 07 release so far?

After I went kinda crazy musically last year, I've been a little underwhelmed so far this year.

I guess my fave new album so far would be Amy Winehouse's Back to Black or NIN's Year Zero smile
If you will, so will I

Funny, I was underwhelmed last year and am loving this year so far. lol

I can't assess this until I know Björk's Volta better, but I've been listening to LCD Soundsystem's Sound of Silver the most.

I guess it would have to be one of these, since they're the only ones I've enjoyed from this year. Or are they the only ones I've heard? hmmm I'd have to think about that.

Not sure which one I like better at the moment. And I'm looking forward to releases from Prince and Meshell in the immediate future.

I've been listening to Volta and I must say I'm not a huge fan of hers but I have been enjoying it since it seems more accessible than some of her other stuff. Also Sound of Silver is on my short list of music to get.

Yet still, 2007 has been kinda mellow to me. I'm missing that overwhelming urge to attack the racks at my music shops like I had last year

It's the most acclaimed album of the year so far for a reason! I would not have expected this from LCD Soundsystem, especially after the cool, distant debut. It's guttural, emotive and brilliant.

Apart from Amy's the one I find myself playing the most is probably

Onetwo is a duo consisting of Paul Humphreys (OMD) and Claudia Brücken (the VOICE of Propaganda's A Secret Wish, one of the 80's masterpieces nod)

Its been a really slow year so far, Male artists are non-existent at this point. From Females this year, for me these two are my top albums

With new albums from McCartney,a-Ha,REM,Duran,Jovi on the way those will clearly be in my top albums.

for me, 2007 has been WAY better than 2006.

Album of the year so far would probably be Lucinda Williams - "West".

Other faves are NIN - "Year Zero", Tori Amos - "American Doll Posse", and Patti Smith - "12".

It's Arcade Fire, band from Montreal. To me, it sounds like the lovechild of Springsteen and Dead Can Dance, but I imagine someone else would think that's way off. Political lyrics, impassioned vocals, guitars plus orchestral arrangements.

For me, Amy Winehouse's cd has been the one I've enjoyed the most this year. I've only had it about 3 weeks, but I love it and have listened to it often.

And there it is. Depending on where you are Amy's Back to Black might be a 2007 release, in that case these 2 would be my choice.

You can put me down for K-Os too, but,

It was released in Canada in 06.

But we can still call it an 07 release as that is when it hit the US.

Amy's album is hot too.

The only two new release albums I bought this year where both kind of complitions that included DVDs (Stevie Nicks "Crystal Visions" and Madonna's "Confessions Tour") and in both cases, I wouldn't go as far as saying they are favorites of this or any year even so far although I prefer Stevie's set.

I have yet to buy anything new but will pick up Bjork's set soon along with the solo releases from Dolores O'Riodan (sp?) tommorrow along with possibly Rick James posthumus one.

it's not out yet
she's releasing it in the UK first
and then over here in July I believe (don't quote me)

but to answer the question
I wouldn't give anything I've heard
thus far the title for "album of the year"
not just yet

but ones that I enjoy are:
Back To Black
Introducing... Joss Stone
Life In Cartoon Motion
Return Of The Mac
For Lovers, Dreamers And Me

I know I'm leaving some out
this is off the top of my head

also, still hadn't heard Redman's
project yet... which I know I'll love it
