"Brenda Russell" (1979)

I`ve been exploring her work lately. She`s not only a good songwriter, but a great recording artist as well...

Her debut album is brilliant... beuatiful piano ballads cloud9

"Way back when" is cool, probably the best track, along with "So good, so right"

You know her album "Soul talkin`"? I don`t know if many will agree with me on this one, but i think her version of the title track is 10 times better than Chaka Khan`s... nod

ITTOI was the first song
I ever heard by this woman
(other than Chaka's version of
Please Pardon Me)

and I fell in love instantly
I can see Badu doing this one justice

Have you heard the "Brenda and Brian" album where Brenda does her original version of "Please Pardon Me" - she was Brenda Gordon back then, married to Brian Russell. The only problem is, she and Brian do it as a duet--and I hated his voice, Lol!

I'm having the hardest time
getting my hands on any of her albums sad

I'd love to hear Nippy & MJB do this song as a duet
I think they would kill it
