Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)

Heard this song the other day and I never realized how few lyrics there are. It’s my all time favorite Janet slow jam and what I consider to be the beginning of what was to come with her explicit tracks.

Love the slow groove, finger snaps, her voice, the cooing at the end, how she goes from asking her lover to stay to telling him she has to go.

Funny How Time Flies

Funny how time flies when you're having fun... Oh baby
Funny how time flies when you're having fun... Oh baby

I don't know where it all went... Time passed us by
Just when it seemed the fun began... ooh...

Funny how time flies when you're having fun
Funny how time flies when you're having fun

But time never ends... Let's find the time
To get together once again... someday soon

Funny how time flies when you're having fun
Funny how time flies when you're having fun

Don't you ever leave (Funny how time flies when you're having fun)
Don't you ever go
Say you love me so (Funny how time flies when you're having fun)
Funny how time flies when you're having fun... When you're having fun
Funny how time flies when you're having fun

(spoken)I really don't know where all the time went
I really have to go
Stop, stop!
Oh I really have to go
Oh I really have to go
One more time? Oh...

I like this one a lot. One of the better Janet on-record orgasms, because it's so subtle.

classic
from a classic album

I have a hard time picking the "favorite"
from that Control album

I think I like
"He Doesn't Even Know That I'm Alive"
the most cool
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

This sensual jam is still my favorite track off of the Control album, even though it's the last song on the album. It kind of reminds me of how Michael poured his heart and soul out on Lady in my Life, which was the last song of the Thriller album. It's still a classic on quiet storm radio stations today and I have to turn up the radio everytime I hear it. Janet was on fire back in the day!

When I first this, it was a complete shock. I said, "What's Janet doing singing a sexy song like this?" Dayum, girl!

Could very well be my favorite song from that album. Great production and smooth, cool vocals from Janet. Wasn't mama Jackson alarmed by this one when she first heard it?

Same thing I thought when I first listened to this sexy track. It confirmed to me that the bubblegum stuff was over, it was now all about the new Janet. It was like a whole new introduction to her and that's what this classic album and classic track was about, basically.

This one puts me to sleep. This one and He Doesn't Know I'm Alive are my least favorites on the album. Everything else is ace.

The ending of this song is reminiscent to the ending of The Lady In My Life.

Not a fan; IMO the album ends with 'Let's Wait Awhile'. Janet's best sexy song is still 'Someday is Tonight'.

FHTF(WYHF) is still miles ahead of 'Love Scene (Ooh Baby)', 'Warmth', 'Anything', 'The Body that Loves You', 'Love 2 Love', or 'Would You Mind', though.

Someday is Tonight is damn sexy. Haven't heard that one in awhile. That might be a close second.

This song reminds me a lot of MJ's "Lady In My Life". Especially towards the ending when Janet sings "Don't you ever leave, don't you ever go, say ya love me so"-she sounds exactly like MJ there, but it's a great song. Probably my fave song on "Control"next to "The Pleasure Principle".
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

I love this song. It reminds me alot of Art Of Noise. I think it would have been alot better without the moaning though.

I agree. To me,this song is actually sexier than the more explicit slow jams that came later. It's subtle but sometimes less is more. It's good to leave some things to the imagination, lol.

Jam and Lewis admitted that they "borrowed" elements from MJ's "The Lady In My Life" when they composed this song.

Ahh, that makes sense. It is reminiscent of LIML.

There are still a few slow jams I like by Janet but she started to lose me when she started describing what she wanted to do and how she wanted to be done and who was gonna put what where, etc. eek We get the picture.

I know what you mean! Her lyrics became really explicit after the 'Rhythm Nation' album.

In spite of the fact that this song is derived from LIML (which has already been pointed out) I never really cared for this song...until about 1994 when I saw this stripper doing her thang to it! omg

Been liking the song ever since.

I like Stanley Clarke's version from this album:

It's a bit on the elevator music side, but the trumpet by Freddie Hubbard is nice. It reminds me a bit of Herb Alpert's work on Someday Is Tonight.

One of the better instrumental versions of an R&B song. Stanley is sweeet, he gives that extra oomph and Freddie is nice too.
