But I really passionately hate most of that album. 'Cept "Nobody Knows Me." And I'm one of the few that really loves "Die Another Day." it's one of my favorite Madonna albums "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

''Hey You'' features similar lyrics with "Keep The Trance'', Madonna unreleased Our friend and community member Weissman has pointed out a very interesting thing. He has noticed that the lyrics of "Hey You" written and produced by Madonna with Pharrell features several similar lyrics with Madonna's unreleased (and probably unfinished) track called "Keep The Trance" written and produced with Mirwais and Stuart Price. So maybe "Keep The Trance" inspired "Hey You"... KEEP THE TRANCE 2005 Ciccone / Ahmadzaï / Price Hey you Don’t give up Either good or bad There is still a trance around you Keep the trance Hey you Be yourself Don’t be shy Here’s the reason why You got to keep the trance Keep the trance Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it all night Keep the trance Young girl (young boy) Open up your heart That is what you’re born for If you wanna change you gotta Keep the trance Keep the trance Hey you (old man) Remember this None of this is real Including how you feel That’s why you keep the trance Keep the trance Keep keep keep Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Keep the trance Yeah Keep the trance Yeah Hey you Love yourself If u never can Love anybody else You can keep the trance Yeah Keep the trance Yeah Come on Come on Young boy (young girl) Now open up your heart This is what you’re born for If you wanna change you gotta Keep the trance Keep the trance Come on Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Keep the trance Come on Come on Come on Come on Come on Come on Come on Come on Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Keeping it together You’ll make it all right Come on check it out And we can keep it tonight Thanks to Weissman to bring the lyrics of "Keep The Trance" to the light of fans and notice this interesting similarities. seems like it might be throw away for her. very interesting.I'd love to hear this song! Is it an outtake from 'Confessions'?

RZR said: Hey You isn't that good, but it is encouraging in a way; that the whole album isn't going to be very trendy hip-hop/r&b. that it'll be somewhat diverse. especially if this is one produced by Pharrell.
The album is gonna be very diverse, according to insiders. It will contain dance songs,R&B tracks, rock songs, and ballads. To those folks who think it will be Madonna's "hip-hop album",they're gonna be really surprised, lol. According to an insider who has heard several songs, the Pharrell tracks in particular are totally different than the usual hip-hop/R&B stuff he does for other artists.

Well i have to say im really not feeling this new song. Great melody - like the acoustic guitar strummy vibe, but im totally hating the lyric, her singing, and the production.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO REVERB. Remember when M couldnt do a single song without it - like she was scared to hear her voice up close - but ever since Mirwais stripped it back on Music - she's hardly used it at all. This song is crying out for it, but still she uses that up close vocal recording that makes her sound whiney - YUK. As for the song - it does sound like an unfinished song polished up for the purposes of charity. I really dont think the new album will sound anything like this. Remember Music was a million miles away from American Pie and TSS. Pharrell is probably only producing it because she needed to do the song for Liveearth, and he was working with her at the time. Its a total throwaway song - a gesture for live earth more than a hot new M & Pharrell collaboration. That said the melody has been in my head all morning. I dont care what people say - M knows how to write a catchy pop melody and hook.

The lyrics are crap, true. I'm sick of that whole "Love yourself before you can love some else" crap. And that poets and prophets will envy her? Come on. What kind of prophet would envy Madonna?

Well thank GOD, I say! I hate crap/sh** hop!! How did this thread become a referendum on American Life?! For the record, I'm an AL lover...esp. Nothing Fails! Yeah, why IS everyone hatin' on Superpop, I liked that! Finally...Hey You is NOT so bad for a charity single...though I STILL say I'm glad it won't be on the album!
