I'd go with the 70's
I think most of the music that I own is from the late 70's sound of Philadelphia KALIMBA Wonderlove/Tamla P-Funk Rufus & Chaka that right there (+ the Starr Company stuff of the 80's) is some of my most prized albums to name a few because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

That list pretty much says it all. Melodic songwriting and craftsmanship ruled the day in the '60s, and those qualities have been pretty much in decline ever since. structured songs have largely been phased out, replaced by an relentless barrage of beats and sound effects - I can appreciate those qualities, but ultimately it's a proper tune that I crave. In terms of the qualities I enjoy, the decade ranking goes something like this: '60s > '70s > '80s = '90s = '00s

I'd like to say...1980-1997
I know that isn't a decade but it is sort of close.

It's a toss up between the 70's and 80's. Between the music that defined teen years, and the foundational grounding of my wean years. For all those who chose the mid to late 70's to mid 80's, I'm with ya on that.
Ok, my final vote goes to the foundation of the 70's, especially funk and soul. My name says it all. Plus I can't ignore my undying love for disco, and as I got older grew to rediscover pop and rock of that decade. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

if I had to get stuck in one it would be new years of 69 to 79 looped over and over as I try to alter history by stealing Van Hunt songs from the future and pretend that they are my own songs back in the 70's causing the universe to implode

For me, it's a toss-up between the 80s and 90s. I was a child of the '80s, and I really came of age in the '90s, so many of my fondest music related memories are from these eras. I don't know if I could really choose between 'em. Although, I think that by about '97 or '98, the crap had begun to seep into the market quicker than it had ever before.
Besides, U2 (my favorite band) put out my favorite albums in this time period... 80s: Joshua Tree 90s: Achtung Baby Can't choose between those two CDs, and I can't choose between the 80s and 90s. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

There's nothing at all wrong with liking Kenny G. He has his audience and some of his music might actually be good, but he is to jazz what Bon Jovi is to metal.

Another fan of 1975-1985. However if I had to choose a particular decade it would be the 80's. The variety of the music of the 80's alone, makes me vote for the decade. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

It's a running joke, not only here, but in the music world when Kenny G is connected to the word Jazz. I should send you Pat Metheny's diatribe. Anyway, my half-way joking comment was spurred not only by the Kenny G thing but the 80s as "The best R&B period ever" which caught me off guard. That would negate all those great 60s Motown, Stax, Atlantic (and numerous other indie labels) artists. Kind of a knee-jerk post on my part as I never challenge folks for what they like but that one got me. Peace to all. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."
