www.poolparty.com are reporting that Madonna has collaborated with Annie Lennox on Annie's forthcoming new album:
Truly a match made in diva heaven. Annie Lennox is collaborating with Madonna on her highly anticipated new album due out this fall. Other guests will include Mary J. Blige, P!nk, and Kelis. Music veteran Glen Ballard is producing the album - Annie's first in over four years. Get ready, because this one is going to be huge.

but anyway, if true, this news is both cool and sucks at the same time. and i don't know why.

the madge duet is news to me, but i've been hearing rumblings about the other duets. i really wish annie weren't going this route, but whatever.

It's even more of a tangent than an album comprised entirely of covers, definitely. Sounds like she wants to be fly. Next Michelle Branch, Rob Thomas, Everlast, and Wyclef will be on board. She should try and get Nelly Furtado and Beyonce to guest too!

In all fairness, I think an all duets album could be really interesting from her. She pulled of Medusa with ease. Why not duets?

And everything she endorses has always been awesome, so why would this be any different? She wants to prove that she's terrific in all capacities, never one to rely on a safety zone. I found out from a book that Sinestra is Italian for 'left' (as opposed to right). It was in Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. So that b-side must translate to 'The Left'...but most fans know it translates to pure evil.

Duets albums rarely work... BUT in fairness to Annie, she has been great typically in duets. Her performance of Under Pressure with Bowie at the Freddie Mercury tribute was amazing. And she stood toe to toe with the Queen of Soul herself on "Sisters are Doin' It For Themselves." "Adrian" with Elvis Costello...

So we'll see. The fact that Madonna is involved raises the profile of the project by a huge margin....
