Janet tour news... anything?

I've all but lost hope, so I haven't been keeping up with the buzz except for this site.

Have you all heard anything about a Janet summer tour yet?

someone on the janet board claims to have met a choreographer at her school that knows gil and they phoned him and he said once again that they're doing rehearsals and there will be an announcement soon. Another guy on the board who knows gil is also hinting that something is up but he's not allowed to say anything (because of what happened with the blog a few months ago I guess) so I think there will be a tour after all. Janet is also releasing a new movie: Why Did I Get Married, and a song for the Rush Hour 3 soundtrack so look out for that

Oh... I know about the movie. That should be fun!

Yeah, I've heard "rumblings" and gossip for months now, but nothing official. I just lost interest due to being believing the hype with no results. I was just hoping there would have been an official announcement by now. But then again May isn't too late to announce a summer tour. So maybe there will be a tour after all. smile

Thanks.

maybe she's smart enough to tour doing the off season when less tours are going and she'll make a few extra bucks because of lack of compeition

New message from Janet on janet-jackson.com

The following new message from Janet was posted this afternoon on Janet-Jackson.com:

How r u?

Its been more than too long since we've spoken? How is your life going? All is well with me. There's so much to update u on. Where do I start?

Well, I just finished filming the new Tyler Perry movie, "Why Did I Get Married?" It was one of the best experiences I've ever had on a film.

Its an ensemble cast that includes Richard T. Jones, Jill Scott, Malik Yoba, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Sharon Leal and Tyler Perry - who wrote, produced and directed the movie. I play an educated author & psychologist who writes about love, marriage and relationships and counsels as well. Its a great departure 4 me from my other roles and I can't wait for u to see the movie when it opens later this year.

Have you seen my Vibe Vixen cover? I LOVE it! The story was great and I love the photos the fabulous Ruven Afanador shot. I'm also on the cover of famed photographer Michel Haddi's new magazine, Sly & Chic. We shot it in the Hollywood Hills a few months ago - real classic Hollywood style - a totally different look. The magazine should be on stands in the states in a couple of weeks - I hope u like it.

On the music side, I've been in crazy rehearsals preparing for my performance at the Atlantis - Phase III opening on May 11th. I'm performing a mini concert and planning to enjoy the Bahamas with the kids. Then I'm off to Europe to do an event in Cannes and London.
I hope you are preparing to have a great summer and I promise to keep in better touch.

Miss u!
Luv,
Janet

hmmm She doesn't say anything about a full-scale tour...just a few select performances.I predict that she has put the tour plans on hold. She's probably gonna wait and see how her upcoming projects do (the Tyler Perry film, and the new single from 'Rush Hour 3') before going back on the road.

From this week's Answers4Dancers newsletter, Danceblast:

JESSE'S DISH 4 DANCERS
Dancer BLAKE MCGRATH turned down the Janet tour and CASSIDY NOBLETT has been given the spot for the tour that's supposed to launch in July. The talented KELLY KONO has returned from Canada to join the Janet camp again for her 12th year...

I'd post the link, but it's a private subscription, so I don't know how? I can't post is for some reason. Anyway, I just thought I'd share. It's still not official news, but A4D is fairly reliable. The problem is that things can change,so we shall see...

so the tour is set for July? Shouldn't she already be selling tickets NOW?? And how come there have been no rumors about the setlists, costumes, etc? For an artist of her stature, this tour seems to be wrapped in secrecy, lol.

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up. The thing is that Jesse Santos is a dancer/choreographer, so he has an "in" with the dancers. Plus A4D has connectoins with a number of agencies. I don't think it would be published, if there weren't at least a little bit of truth behind it. A4D was the first to report the Damita Jo tour had been cancelled until Gil contacted the site, requesting the wording changed to indefinitely postponed. However, A4D knew that Janet's "kids" were already being booked for other gigs. It was more of a spin thing. lol

Notice the wording is "supposed to start in July," so obviously it's nothing is definite. I just thought I'd share since I was the one who started this thread.

why anyone would want to fork over money for a Janet Jackson show at this point is beyond me. you know it's going to be the same tired shit that it was on the last 3 or 4 tours. and this time the new songs rotated in are going to suck. pray she doesn't tour, so you aren't tempted to continue to support this lazy, unimaginative, washed-up has-been.

She only had two flop albums over a 21 year career. I wouldn't say that was unimaginative and washed up.

the last 3 have been completely unimaginative, moreso with each release. and nothing indicates that she's interested in changing that.

It seems Renee had allot more to do with Janet & Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis... because we havent seen anything original from them since he left. All her new albums are just fillers to her career, sure they are decent and solid. But they are not original. There is no arch.

I'd love if Janet didnt something like what Kelly Clarkson did with her second album. Something more "band" - "grudge" ish.

Enough with the Lip Sync - Dancing, and the guy on stage as you both flirt with each other back and forth. rolleyes sure she pretty much invented that stage show, but so many other people ripped it off and ripped it off badly that she should have went into a totally different driection.

Renee would have probably told her and her producers that.

He had an eye for trends and visual artistic-images.

I strongly believe collectively Janet, Rene, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis had a lot to do with the way she reinvented herself each album from Rhythmn Nation - Velvet Rope. However, you mention Rene to Janet fans and they'll come after you like a pack of wolves. It also doesn't help that Rene hasn't been seen since the divorce.

Rene was a good influence on her career and maybe her life in general, however, I don't think both "Control" and "All For You" (which for some reason is always hated on) should be considered throw aways....however, it things did start to go downhill after AFY, becuase she didn't have much to to say. AFY is sexy yet playful but also filled some rage and revenge. It wasn't a throwaway attempt to be Britney. If it had, a song like "Boys" would have made the cut.

it's her show.

I don't want people to think I hate her or her brothers, because that is wrong.

However, the Jacksons don't do anything new with their shows. It's been the same show over and over and over again. I'm glad they can perform those routines in their sleep, hell I can to, but please do something differnt keep us guessing and wanting more.

Intro
New Song
If New Song
New Song

(this section could be switched depending on the mood)
Let's Wait A While/Come Back to Me/Again
Control Medley

so and so forth.

If the costumes are predictable. Rhythm Nation was black and white, janet was colorful, Veltvet Rope was black and white, All For You was colorful. That means this tour has to be done in black and white.

Black Cat
Rhythm Nation

Encore in streetish looking clothes
End with Together Again

Michael isn't any better in this regards.

her who's names shall not be mentioned, Kylie, Britney, Christina, Justin, Beyonce, all come up with new was to present their songs but still be true to their fans why can't they?

I agree that their concerts are really repetitive and have the same structure each time, but that doesn't take away from them being so freaking talented and stealing a show each time! That's why I was debating for the last few months whether to see janet again or not. If it's the same structure all over again, it'll be a waste but if it's not and she actually does a surprisingly great job with a freshness to it, I want to be there to witness it. Maybe she'll perform several of the songs I loved on damita jo & 20 YO and that will be a treat so I'm totally going for the tour
