I smell Clive Davis in all of this....

Annie's a BMG aritst and he's the man who brought Santana back with such an album..and made Rod Stewart big again by rehasing old songs....he tried to do the Santana thing with Prince but it did not work..hopefully Annie's works and does not have the tacky factor....she was on 'American Idol' already and that seemed odd to me...but that would be something Clive Davis would do.

Whitney Houston on 'Idol' will happen for sure as well...that would work for her since half the shows auditions are Whitney wannabes...

I wonder if Madonna's new album will include a duet with Mary J.Blige.Supposedly the two discussed it last fall and considering that Maddy is recording some R&B songs for her album,it would make sense.

probably an acoustic ballad that will obviously be made into an uptempo dance track. that's almost a given considering the core fan base. lol

i can hear the announcement now..

and here's the 12"dance DJ Sven take your shirts off and pump it electronica mix 15:01 min edited version of Madonna and Annie Lennox

disbelief

some people would die if MADONNA didn't have a dance remix of every track she's done. lol

yeah, it does make sense now. but when the rumor was circulated, it definitely didn't. at that point, we were lead to believe it would be another dance record (a rock-tinged one, at that). so who knows.

i just wish if they were going to do remixes of her stuff, that they'd shake it up a little.

i'm sick of there being 5 to 15 club-dub versions of every single which have very, very little to do with the original song. i've been very unimpressed with her remixes from the last 10 years or so. and i get less and less impressed with them as time goes on.

on every maxi-single, there should be:

1) a 12" extended version that takes the album version and makes it longer with a few extra new things, a la Jump (and pretty much most of the ones from the 80's)

2) a b-side

3) ONE remix commissioned for clubs, because they all sound alike anyway. why do we need 7 of the same thing?

4) a couple of remixes that re-work the song in a different style, but still leave the song recognizeable. a la the Headcleanr remixes of AL and LP. or the different version's of Janet's "Together Again." they should look at Bjork's singles from Post as inspiration.

5) hell, a remix of an album track that isn't going to be a single wouldn't hurt either. shrug

otherwise, i'm done buying Madonna singles. i never thought i'd say that, but i don't even listen to the damn things anymore. i'll just download the shit so that i can say that i've got all of Madonna's stuff. because at this point i actually kind of HATE her maxi-singles.

I completely agree!!! I am so tired of all these techno remixes that go nowhere....repetitive dub versions that go on forever. To be honest,I think Madonna's most interesting remix of recent years is Missy's "American Life" remix. At least it dared to go in another direction.I never thought I would say this, but maybe she should let R&B producers remix her singles.I'm tired of these cold, electronic, techno remixes. The only good remixes from the 'Confessions' era were the "Sorry" remixes. Those are good, especially the Pet Shop Boys remix. She should ask other artists/producers (as opposed to DJs) to remix her singles. The rsults are much more interesting.

God, I pray this rumor is false. Annie's really at her greatest when she does it all herself. I've had "Bare" in my player at work on repeat and it's really become one of my favorite discs ever. I wish she'd do another like "Bare" or "Diva", since those are her only original, solo albums, and since she's said this is going to be her last real album.

From her website a while back when she was talking about working on a new album. There was a rumor going around that it was titled "Venus," but she denied it. Which is a shame, 'cause that's a good title for an Annie Lennox album.
Anyway, she said something about this being her last real album. After this disc, she would stick to writing or releasing songs as singles or downloads or something.
I love her new iTunes download of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" from American Idol, though. She seriously needs to do more albums than 1 every 5 years though.
