Was Terrence Trent D'arby a Prince wannabe? Terrence was good when he first came out don't get me wrong, but you do see a little of Prince's influence in him. And at the same time with each subsequent album he release he tries to be daring like Prince. But unlike Prince, instead of getting better he got worst. And eventually disappearing from the biz. So poses the question, is he a wannabe? Yes! Peace and be wild!

I always thought that Terence (or Sananda as he is now called) was a bit more Motown-influenced than Prince, although he definitely incorporated rock elements too. I thought that his third album "Symphony or Damn" was a masterpiece. He is still releasing new music through his own website, which is a bit Prince-like, actually. A truly great artist, in my opinion. www.sanandamaitreya.com

He left the biz quietly as prince was talking very loudly about leaving. TTD is at least equally talented, and just as original. There're limited ways of promoting a skinny, cute, black fella, so they both got similar treatment.

That said, he's certainly influenced by Prince, but he's also a true talent. "What kind of fuck ending is that?"

Well,he certainly had a Prince-sized ego.I recall an interview from 1987,where he seemed annoyed by the constant Prince comparisons."What's up? Can't we have two genuines in the same decade?" he asked
