Yeah, so I'm listening to a mix of Beatles songs and I'm picking out the funky tracks. For real, yo, The Beatles had the FUNK! Well, it's not really a surprise since the Beatles were heavily influenced by Soul music. I mean, you could tell that they were listening to some JB and Sly and Wilson Pickett when you hear songs like "Lady Madonna" and "Sgt. Pepper's Reprise". Ringo kinda played funky beats similar to Clyde Stubblefield (JB's "funky drummer") when you really listen to it.

It's all there, and it's one of the many reasons why I love the Fab Four.

Some orgers consider jamiroquai funkier that The Beatles!

I've been listening to my entire itunes music collection on album shuffle and "What It Is: Funky Soul and Rare Grooves" blended pretty seamlessly with the Beatles (Hell Bulldog from Yellow Submarine specifically, not even one of their funkiest tracks).

They were definitely a talented bunch of blokes. So many great songs!

They weren't often funky, but they hit the occasional groove, like Come Together, Baby You're A Rich Man, & Drive My car

Funky More like poppy.

Lennon could spit out some funky lyrics, also, like

"coporation t-shirt stupid bloody Tuesday, man you've been a naughty boy you let your face grow long"

"crobalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess, boy you've been a naughty girl you let you're knickers down"

George Clinton said it the best: "The Beatles were the only band that could be funky and poppy at the same time". He was right.

I like MJ's "Come Together" better. Not saying I dislike their version, because I don't. I actually like it, but MJ's just have a slight edge over the Beatles.

I'm partial to the Beatles. I think that intro with the "shoot me" and the echo handclap and the bass & drums is one of the coolest sounding things ever. My 2 & 4 year old nephews love it too. They always ask for that "SHHHOOOOO" song.

But it's good Mike's version appeals to a lot of people. It means he put his own spin on it, which is the only reason to do a cover.
