Did Your Parents/Elders Ever Loved/Hated Rap Music During The 80's?!?

My late mother hated, even back in the days that rap had clean lyrics. And she also thought Buff the Human Beatbox (of The Fat Boys) was only spitting! rolleyes lol

As for both of my late gramdmothers, they were cool with it to an extent (They didn't like all of that cussing in gangsta rap). lol

weirdly, i think my mom likes rap. she used to love curtis blow, then she was into coolio for a while, and then a couple of years ago she was all fascinated with the whole tupac vs. biggie story. i dunno. moms are weird. lol

My dad liked rap music back then. I look through his LP colection and find Kurtis Blow, Grand master Flash, Dre Dre's first group (mind just wen black - not NWA), Biz Markie, and some others.

"back then they didn't want me
now I'm hot they all on me"
confused
she had a student that would
sing it all the time LOL

Most parents can be weird in general. Even some of those same grown-ups that didn't care for rap would like 2pac for that one song...Changes.

My parents dug rap music during the 80s, judging from my ol' boys huge vinyl collection including "Straight Outta Compton", "As Nasty As They Wanna Be", and others; and as far as my Mama was concerned, she's proud to own such albums as the first Kurtis Blow LP, the first Two Sequence LPs, and every Run-Dmc LP released throughout the 80s.
